MKV format or FLV videos in Xbox 360

My computer's sound is broken for cetain reasons and rather then gettin it fixed im getting a totally new computer soon. However in the mean time, i hate watchin anime with the subs purely on without any voices and theme songs. I tried to play it on my 360 but it only accepts those in WMV format. As a tech noob, i tried to convert it by changing the numerals at the end, it doesnt work btw.
so those anyone know a way outta this or find me a program which can convert them to be viewable in my 360. thank you.

As far as converting I really do not know much about doing it efficiently but there may be another solution to your problems.
I have read a few accounts about this working on xbox 360 for mkv. It has worked for some and failed for others. Probably just need to set it up correctly.

Yes it was designed for ps3 and I haven't tested it on 360 but Ive read that it works, subtitles and all. Although ive also read that some version dont have xbox support. So try the latest and if that doesnt work try the beta. I suggest reading their server with how to run the program.
Overall for anime Im told this hardsubs the anime as it streams to you play it to your tv. That takes some decent CPU power (normal encoding does anyway) and some typesetting signs might not show up the best but its better than taking hours to reencode to a lower quality video and audio.
