My laptop is broken T_T

My laptop's system has broke T_T

I think it because of virus...

So, I want to format my laptop

But I wonder, is my data in another harddisk will disappear too?

or only the one in my local disk?

Are you saying that you have two hard drives in your laptop? Or that you have one hard drive and it has been partitioned. If its the latter choice chances are when you "format/return to factory settings" it may actually overwrite everything, but if there are two hard drives that's a different story. Still though try to back up data on a external if you can.

You can select which partition to format when you reinstall. Whether or not those are different partitions on the same HDD or different HDDs doesn't matter.

However, I can't promise the virus will be removed if you only format the system partition.

What do you mean the system is broken? It wont boot? Freezes? Perhaps there are better alternatives to formating, specially since its not guaranteed to work, as Imperial said.

You've got to see if you can fix the problem instead of just nuking your computer when things go wrong.

It has a really strange problem

I can connect to some Wireless Connection but it keep saying it can't find a server

Okay that means your laptop isn't actually broken, it's more likely to do with your router.

First try power cycling the router this usually fixes most connectivity issues.
If that doesn't work, check if the router you're connecting to can actually hook into the internet, if you can physically access to the router try plugging a normal ethernet cable to see if you can access the internet.

Or if it's a uni internet connection you have the right proxy settings ect.

Thats sound more like the computer keeps working offline even when it connects. Try this: Start the msn and sign in. If it fails to connect, click the options that looks more like 'fix problems' or whatever.

Works for me everytime something like that happens

Also check if your browser hasn't set itself to Offline mode.
For Firefox: File > Work Offline
Internet Explorer 8: Tools > Work Offline

Make sure those settings aren't checked.

If it offline, it will said thar you're using work offline automatically

But this one said that I can't connect to any server

First I thought that someone use the NetCut program on me, so I installed Anti NetCut but it still can't connect to any server

I wonder if it a newest version of netcut, because some of my friends can't connect too

It only happen whenever I try to connect to wifi in my class, it doesn't happen in another place like restaurant

That's will not correct if you format it. And somehow the problem is the same with my friends.

By "can't connect" you mean,
is it "Limited or no connectivity." or can't connect at all.
If it's just that limited, you can add the IP by yourself.
for XP:(Control panel > Network Connectivity > Properties for "Wireless" > Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) > Properties)
You need to ask your friend whose connected about the IP.

Copy all the IPs, instead of IP address. Just use different Byte for the Least Byte, example:
If the IP was 192.168.1.10 then you need to pick 192.168.1.15(different for the last)
{This problem called a "DHCP problem"}

But if you can't connect at all(No wireless found), that the Access point's server need to be checked.
Ask the provider who manage the access point, but that maybe you got a firewalled connection because you do much download >_>.

Have you checked your IP settings? If they somehow got set for a static IP that could interfere with getting a connection.

modem? not LAN or Wifi?

If you said modem, then maybe something's wrong with your driver. Have you tried to reinstall the driver?
