P2P is being castrated!!!!! (essentially)

Have you heard? The RIAA has finally decided to stop filing lawsuits left and right after teenagers, little old ladies, and dead people for peer to peer filesharing of songs! :D They have instead turned to a different approach. Now they will just monitor our IP addressees and if they catch you they will notify your ISP who will pass the word along to you to saying, essentially 'STOP THE F******* ILLEGAL S*** YOU CHEAP F***!!!'. If the issue persists, they will take one of three courses of action; they will either a) cut off your internet service altogether, b) slow down your broadband connection and charge you more for it, or c) they will add the songs you downloaded to an itemized bill and charge you for them like itunes! :cry: I personally think this sucks dead donkey dick, but that's just my opinion on the matter. :roll: One way we may be able to get around this little roadblock is to utilize a IP screening proxy service that would keep them from figuring out where the hell you are and who the hell you are, but you would have to pay for it naturally. I believe the standard running price of those kind of things is about $100 for a 1 year subscription. I may have to consider investing in this in the near future. :wink:

The only way that would work with torrents is if they themselves seeded full songs and albums, and then set up monitoring programs VIA UTorrent or w/e.

They'd be involving themselves in Illegal Activity hence PWNING themselves and making their evidence in-admissible.

Here in Australia, the government is thinking of filtering P2P transfers at the ISP level...

I don't really mind the governments going after P2P programs and stuff since I get all my legally 90 percent of the times anyways. My only exceptions are that I read each chapter of the Naruto manga as it comes out on Narutochaos.com every Friday. However, I own all 33 volumes of Naruto released in America so far and I have all 10 uncut boxed sets released of the anime so I think I make up for reading each new chapter as it comes out. I also download doujins obviously but those are unlicensed material anyways and I only get an opportunity to buy them 2-3 times a year at cons. If the powers that be still have a problem with me doing that then I have no problem with quitting. I would be upset if people were stealing the things I made for a living as well.

Yeah, but most people that are being 'stolen' from are doing more than just making a living. Over half of them can easily afford diamond studded swimming poolz and solid 24 carat gold humveez, even with the rampant illicit downloading of their shit from teh interwebz. They're still making ungodly amounts of monay, so they should stop their bitching and complaining about losing what amounts to chunk change next to what their annual income iz. Most of us people who utilize P2P currently can't afford to buy their overpriced shit and get it legally, due to either the current economic situation, being in a shitty paying job, or paying jacked up tuition rates for post-high school education (this last example applies to all people who are currently attending post high school educational facilities, and those who are still paying off student loans, and probably will be doing so for the next 20 or so yearz at the current prices for college).
