Should I Join This Band? xD

My friends want to make a band. And they want me to be the drummer. Now, I'm the only one in the group who's any good at the instrument they play (seriously, everyone else is learning basics). However, I live half an hour away from them. My mom lives in the same town though, so I can always move back there and join. Also, they want me to get a job so that I can pay for the majority of the things they do (they didn't say it, but I know it'll happen <.<).

So yeah, should I bother joining, or just tell them to screw off? xD

Yes, if it's convenient. I would not be in the band to build a career out of it, but practicing in a band helps you get a lot better at any instrument. It's much easier to write music and do creative things in a band than by yourself, and you practice things that you don't normally practice (like beats, time signatures, complicated stuff). Since your friends are starting off, it's a good stage to practice and get better. You can go join a real band like Dream Theater or Symphony X when you get better.

How good are you though? In terms of speed.

Not that great, I started in March. I don't have a timer, so I can't be accurate, however I can play Everlong/Run To The Hills/that stuff if that helps at all.

Learn some Rush or (lol) Behemoth to help with your timing.
