So how do you deal with a cold?

As the topic says, how do you deal with a cold or any sickness for that matter? As of the time of this post I'm having a terrible cold right now. My remedy has always been just drink some chicken soup(home-made not instant). I've heard splashing your own piss on your face works, Putting on your radiator until your butt burns, and using one of those mist makers. So I'm pretty much up for anything. Suggestion?

Well I usually have any kind of hot soup and take some cough medicine. Made sure your place is well cleaned. eg. vacuum, dust, sweet, ect. I find this helps to get rid of your cold the fastest.

Chicken soup is the Jewish penicillin, holy shit I spelled that right on the first try. Drinking it is probably your best bet. That and getting rest. I also heard that sweating helps, I don't know how, but I've heard it.

Splashing piss in your face...? The weirdest remedy I've ever heard, lol. Even if it does help cure a cold I'd never do that.

Personally, I drink a ton of orange juice. Maybe it helps, maybe not, but either way, I like orange juice....

Before you go to sleep put vicks on the bottoms of your feet and wear socks over it. This actually is a legitimate treatment, my uncle read about it while he was studying to become a chiropractor.

I just drink alot of fluids and work out. Staying active when you have a cold and actually help you get rid of it faster, or you can just sleep so your body can fight it on its own.

I didny mean a full-blown workout :cry: I just try to sweat it out.

Like what others have said, the important thing is to to drink plenty of water and get sufficient rest. I am not sure of the scientific basis behind the sweating method, but it works for me; I always feel better after sweating it out, though not through exercise.

Just tuck yourself into bed with a thick blanket. Leave the windows open for ventilation, but do not turn on the fan or the air-conditioner.

Don't do any physical activity, it just stresses your body more when it should be working on fighting the sickness. Try to just sleep a lot and eat right. Eating right does not entail chicken soup. Chicken soup in no way helps get rid of sickness unless you've magically come up for a recipe for a highly well balanced, filling, vitamin filled chicken soup. Most home made chicken soups do not fall under that category. Just eat full meals and drink lots and lots of fluids. Jucies preferably if you don't have any just keep drinking water. Also to help sweat it out, before you go to bed drink a hot toddy. This consists of whiskey, honey, lemon and I think some water. I would suggest looking it up online for proportions. Also since you'll probably be sleeping for a very long time I would suggest keeping a bottle of water and maybe an apple or something by your bed so when you randomly wake up you can drink and have a snack and just keep sleeping.

If you're going for homeopathic remedies, there's always echinacea and slippery elm to go along with the standard vitamin c. A good hot shower or bath can help as well.

I don't bother doing anything when I get sick. I keep doing what I do, ignore any symptoms I may have, and get on with life.

The only time that I couldn't do that was when I was hospitalized for three days because of my asthma trying to strangle me to death. My lungs weren't reacting to the inhaler, so after several hours of trying to get it to stop, my dad rushed me to the hospital, where I then promply threw up on the nurses desk when she said "You'll have to wait." I was only about 8 or so at the time. Nearly died there, or so I heard.

Anyway, I don't take medicine when I'm sick. I don't sleep when I'm sick. I play video games when I'm sick. I get better in four days or so. I only ever get sick once a year, and that was two months ago, so I'm good to go.

i make a soup with lots of vegetables and some chicken. drink lots and lots of water, and just rest as much as you can. your body does the most healing while you're asleep.

personally the sweating thing hasn't worked wonders for me. i tried taking a hot bath when i got sick this one time, and thought i was gunna die a horrible naked death in the bathroom when i got out of the tub. it wasn't painful or nauseating, but i got so light headed that i couldn't see anything and felt like i didn't even have a head anymore.

if you have things you need to get done, theraflu works wonders. there's a daytime and nighttime version.

Not really a remedy, but Zicam works wonders whenever I have a cold. Also, that Airborne stuff, works pretty well as far as making the cold go away faster.
