SpySheriff (And Other FAKE Anti-Viruses)

(Before I discuss this I wanna warn you all straight away.

DO...NOT...DOWNLOAD ANY OF THESE FAKE ANTI-VIRUSES, ANTI-SPYWARE ETC.
If you do... -_-)

SpySheriff is an infamous FAKE anti-spyware/anti-virus software that is designed to 'scare' the owner into thinking that their computer is swarming with viruses.
But in reality, these listings are all fake. Whilst the owner is panicking, the SpySheriff software is deliberately downloading (and installing) viruses, spyware, malware, worms and all the sort.

Once SpySheriff has taken over your system, getting rid of it will be very, very difficult (note the repetition of the very!) If you delete it via 'Add/Remove Programs' or even doing it manually, it'll just reinstall itself again through hidden components it installed. Trying to uninstall it may even cause the system to crash and the infamous 'Blue Screen Of Death' may occur. Eventually it'll stop you from using the internet (but it doesn't stop the internet connection o_o). You'll get a LOT of fake security warnings and get prevented from accessing any system restores.


So I hope you all get my warning I and strongly advise you to avoid any of these annoying pieces of s***.
Other FAKE anti-viruses you people should avoid are:
Adware Sheriff, Pest Trap, SpywareNo, Spylocked, SpywareQuake, SpyTrooper, Spydawn, AntiVirGear, Brave Sentry, System Security, SpywareStrike, SpyShredder, Alpha Cleaner, SpyBot SpyMarshal, and SpyAxe. ALL THESE ARE A BIG NO-NO!!



(If you guys are wondering why I made this topic, is because I just saved my friend from this a week ago.)

Nice info, a lot of these fake A-V's just look suspicious. And its amazing how some people will go to make these stupid things just to steal info, fuck up computer, etc. At any rate this will probably help a lot of people distinguish between real and fake.

How'd you remove it?

I wouldn't evern click on nothing I'd just close the page...but I don't usually have any probs with virus and that sort I watch where i browse.

Well, to make a very long story short I disconnected his internet connection (dunno why he didn't do that before)and then looked for the files that were causing the SpySheriff to reinstall itself. I learned how to do that from a website that I've forgotten. After that I got rid if the annoying software once and for all. Then by using good ol' AVG Anti-Virus I got rid of the remaining 229 viruses and spywares that were on his PC.

You can't imagine how much agony and pain his PC went through! LOL
I mean like, pop-ups every five seconds, random taunting messages, the computer running SOOOOOO slow and a whole lot of random porn! HAHA.

There are too many of these fake anti-viruses lately as a matter of fact............i just got an intrusion like 20 min ago from manga fox somehow :D but it was blocked it.

I dunno why people are so stupid to download these kind of things..

Well, I wouldn't call him an idiot. At least he isn't a computer n00b. He just visits too many pirate sites, not to mention porn sites!! LOL XD

SpySherrif looks VERY legit if you compare it with other Anti-Viruses.
It's just that SpySheriff is very demanding and is like as if they are trying to FORCE the product upon you!
