True love, does it exist?

I honestly don't know what else to say other than I'm sorry that happened to you.

I believe true love exists, but not the way most people think. Most people think that you're going to love the other person, even their flaws. True love is about accepting the persons flaws and loving the good parts about them. It's like.. they'll still piss you off, but at the end of the day you want to be with them no matter what. Does that make sense?

Also, it takes work for true love. You're not going to randomly find a person you're in love with. Love at first sight is bogus. Lust at first sight is not bogus.

To answer simply, no, "true love" does not exist. It's all more or less an abstract concept.

However, that answer isn't as true as it could be. In all honesty, it's probably pretty complicated, and depends on how you define what is real. Is it objectively real? of course not. But is it real to an individual who has feelings they describe in that manner. You could say it is.

So I suppose that you could say it is possible to feel something describable as "true love," but it really doesn't exist and is almost entirely fabrication. But people's whole lives are based on a great many lies, so I wouldn't worry much about that part.

I believe that true love still exists somewhere. Sometime and in some point of our lives we have the opportunity to experience it. However, it is we who decide if we want to experience it or not, and it is even we who decides of it exists or it does not.

Ofcourse true love exist.^-^ But its been up to you and you alone to decide if you want it. When you broke up with her you enter a state of depression, where it made you feel that other relationships didn't have what you had before, when it could have. My opinion is to stop looking at new relationships as a way to be in a state where it was with you and her before. Otherwise you won't see what others can offer you...aka "True Love".

It probally is a rareity the majority of people I know of that are in a relationship before they got a boyfriend or girlfriend always went on about how they wanted to go out with a really hot guy or girl.
They rarely mentioned any thing about their personality they would have and some of them arent very nice to be around.

and the ones that tend to care more about some ones personality aren't in a relitionship cause they would rather stay friends that fuck it all up with a relitionship.

I've been under the impression lately that True Love is something you work towards, it's not something that can be attained in any relationship. But if you and your partner are truly willing the work out their own flaws to keep their relationship going and are truly devoted to anyone another, looking past each other's flaws. Then I think one can say they've found True Love.

As always, my answer is "depends".

If "True Love" means to you "absolute devotion to your lover", then that is unfortunately very real, and equally unfortunately it tends to last quite a while. It's not true love though; there's better words for that. True slavery comes to mind. Usually, it explodes violently in everyone's faces when the charade of crippling self-denial begins to lapse. Usually, it isn't exactly healthy.

If by "True Love" you mean "effortless, magical drunken love and blindness for each other's flaws", then you're confusing it with limerence. That's quite real, but it doesn't last.

The only "True Love" I'd give any credit is when you manage to carry over the attraction from the first time of limerence to the more mundane times of everyday companionship. When you find a form of tolerating most of your partner's flaws and subduing some (i.e. the most annoying) of your own, which requires not so much constant restraint that your relationship is being torn apart by it.
That tends to last, and I think it's rather real. Sure doesn't come without effort though.

For me no. It's just a bunch of hormones. Love is just a human concept. Well, this is just my opinion though. But, for me the reason "love" fades is just that the effects of this bunch are gone.

You seem to be confusing love with lust... Sure they go hand-in-hand ina couple, but between the two there's a BIG difference. Why do you think some people (rare cases, true) choose to remain with their lover even after a terrible accident that disfigured or rendered them incapable of sex?... yes the lust is probably gone then, but love (the emotion) is still there, possibly stronger than before when you realize just how much that person means to you, because you almost lost him/her... and we all know that you tend to apreciate something the most, when you lose or come close to losing it.

Yeah, unfortunately people (mostly teenagers) tend to wanna go out with "the hottest, mightiest and sexiest", which is really an infantility in my opinion.

Of course, if you just want a one-night-stand, then it's not a problem, but in a relationship the importance of :beauty of the body" is shifted. I mean, looks matter less than personality, the most valuable thing in a healthy, happy relationship being the love you share... And if there's love, the trust, respect, lust and tolerance all come naturally.

At least those are my 2 cents.

you don't always have to react to the visual stimulus. even disfigured, the person may smell the same or his/her voice stays the same. Okay, that may not be a bunch of hormones... but still, its all in the brain for me.

No way. I know true love - and I can honestly say that I would take a bullet in the place of my significant other. I think people are either to impatient with or to scared of finding true love.

Also, I hate to sound mean, but I think when someone is cheated on it is probably because the relationship grew stale or became boring. You have to make sure you never settle down into a mood of complancency where you think you know everything about your partner. There is always new experiences to be had - and when you stop exploring those things together you fall out of love.

YES and NO , because it just depense on how much work you guys put in your love , think of LOVE as fire , both of you will have to work and keep that fire burning ,sometimes its only one person doing all the work lol dats why the fire fades away.

but whateva man there's always has to be one stronger person in every relationship ,dat persons job is to carry the weight for the 2 of you.

eg...sometimes you may find that its up to you to bring you guys back together again or fix the problem again even if it was her fault ,dats what i mean by being the stronger person :)

NOPE it isn't over ,cause a few months later you find another girl who you feel the same about , and you find your self again saying OMG ill DIE if she leaves me ,i cnt live without her Hahahah .

so in a nut shell ,true love is just people who really can connect wif ya,and those kinda ppl cum by very often ,but they do exist.

True love to me is a rare occuring.
I believe in soulmates, And i believe that its fated who you are with and that everything happens for a reason.

You cant dwell on finding it, And you cant stress yourself looking for it.
Just take chances you normally wouldnt.
Like me, I met my true love at an anime convention.

And it was by a last minute desicion that i decided to go to that con.
And he made the last minute desicion too.
Which helps me believe, That it is fate.
