The Little Mermaid world was so pointless in Kingdom Hearts II. They threw in some story requirements for it but since you don't fight anything it's just a random detour chore. Although it was sort of cool for the first song or so and then you're like "A world of timed button presses?" and you sort of scratch your head and frown.

It was pretty lame.
The rest of the game mostly made up for it. I tried to run through it too fast to go for all the Sephiroth fights and extra key-blades and shit but it was good tightening up of the series mechanics. I missed the dodge-roll though. It's very Zelda reminiscent to roll around everywhere.
