Where is the classical music appreciation? Does no one embrace the melodious joy that is MUSIC?!?!?!? It's ok, not many people listen to classical music. But if you do, and you want to share, this is the thread to do it. Where is the cheering masses, you ask?! Let this thread become the cheering mass!

I really enjoy classical music. I don't listen to lots of classical classical, if you get my meaning. I would, but I'm not sure what to look for.

Here is what I have that I consider "classical":

Distant Worlds CD by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra
Final Fantasy and Zelda arrangements
Hans Zimmer
and some free classical music from the audio portal of Newgrounds

If you would like to recommend some musicians I'll let you know that I prefer "epic" sounding classical.

Well, I recently attended a concert by the Yale Philharmonic Orchestra. I couldn't tell you what was played, but for one piece the pianist played using only his left hand and I was like, wtf, is he showing off or something? Maybe he hurt his right hand? Maybe he's gonna break out with the right hand later and be 10x more awesome? Then I looked at the title of the piece and it said "for the left hand". I didn't know they wrote pieces like that lol.

I think it takes a little more effort to know and appreciate classical music as opposed to the "popular" stuff. Don't have too much of it on my iPod, Vivaldi's Winter, Pachelbel's Canon, and a handful of opera songs. Sadly, I have more pseudo wannabe classical stuff, like a whole lotta Bond and Yanni =). Don't hate me!

I can't hate a person's music. But musical compositions are written in weird ways all the time. Mozart wrote pieces that sounded good forwards and backwards. Some modern composers take twelve random pitches and add rhythm to them, and that's the song. One composer drew loops and told choirs to sing how they thought it should sound. The piece is call Epithet to Moonlight. I don't know the composer. That shows you the eccentricity of musicians.

purifier, if you're looking for pieces with an epic sound, you might want to try music from the Romantic musical period, or some of the less abstract modern "classical" music. Of course, that means nothing, and right now I couldn't suggest anything, but I should come up with some good suggestions in a day or so. To be perfectly honest, I'm just learning this stuff. But I know some sites. I could get some suggestions.

I couldn't agree with you more on the effort comment, cooper. I don't except everyone to know, in fact, there are many things I wish to know. I just formed an obsession, and hopefully, I plan to make that obsession my profession. I'm just glad to know I'm not completely alone on this.

It is one of my life's goal to go to a concert hall and just yell, "fuck yeah", once the trumpets sound for the finale.

You should have gone to my high school. There would probably have been a 75% chance of getting away with it.

well....i dont go outta my way to listen to it but ive gone to concerts before. i even went to see barber of seville. if you dont know what that is its a opera about a guy that falls in love and gets his friend the BARBER OF SEVILLE(really subtle title aint it) to help him. just think of that one Bugs Bunny episode where he gives elmer fudd a shave then says he looks like hes been put thru a machine. anyway it was a very entertaining opera(funny too).
