Why Japanese has english words in it?

I was watching some anime openings to kill time and this question popped into my head. Why are there English words in japanese anime songs. I have heard a bunch of different songs and a lot of them use words which I know have japanese translations. Do they think it just makes the song sound cooler to use english words in some parts of the songs. Sometimes there are even whole phrases such as in the One Piece opening 10 "Share the World"
As far as I know the japanese language has a lot of words which it borrowed from the english language but most of the words I have heard are also in japanese which mean the same thing.

i think it IS because they think it sounds cooler.
and in fact, its not exactly english.
some of it are engrish (improper english)... haha.
Edit: and english is a global language & quite popular in japan, i heard (but still, the main reason is because it sounds cool)

but still maybe if its LIVE it might be different. but i couldnt hear engrish in this song. i was so amazed, couldnt believe the one singing is japanese. o.o

Maybe to put emphasis on a certain idea. Japan also incorporates English words in their daily life. I don't find it odd that they'd do the same for music.

i totaly agree they're just trying to sound cooler kinda like pochos but only this time chineesse/japaneesse, whatever they're all the same, pochos

Likely because American culture is somewhat popular in young Japanese culture. Especially in rock, where you seem to find the most of it.

There are quite a few songs with proper English sounds odd sometimes, I think the same as well its just to look kewl like bands will often be displayed in English writing instead of kanji

I remember reading an article a few years back regarding arbitrary, and often improper, use of English in advertising. It's a gimmick, and is used in about the same fashion as we use faux-Greek/Cyrillic characters, not for their actual sound but for the Latin letter they visually resemble (e.g., Я represents English /ya/, not /r/).
This happens a lot in German music too, I noticed. Even in some English songs, such as the Spanish "1, 2, 3, 14" from the beginning of that U2 song (not that they are using Spanish incorrectly, the 14 is homophonous with rock & roll or some such).

Japanese English? That's weird but it's really happened just now. Sometimes the Japanese people who resides at Japan might use the Broken English.... but some of them are different; they can speak English fluently. I give an example such as... the Japanese who reside my Country, Malaysia for a long time, they can speak pure english and Malaysian English with -lah suffix. For the Japanese artists? I dunno but let's wait and see on how they can speak English fluently.

Engrish is what made me not really enjoy Galneryus's music. It wasn't that I didn't like them...it was just that the Engrish in almost every song got me wondering "If they sang in Japanese, I think I'd be more relaxed with these guys."
Some vocalists can sing English well, or at least hide their Engrish-speaking ways well.
