ex. i freaking love Epik High! they arent like a usual hip-hop group everything they spit has a deep meaning towards it. and they are in fact..LYRICAL GENIUSES!

i have many but this is a local band and they need to be heard round the world.. the name of the band is " Denial Method ". they are a i guess rock type band not really sure what to say on the genre i am never good at that stuff. anyway there music for me feels like it has very deep meaning in the words and truthfully my fellings are that once they get discovered by a lable they are going to become huge and by huge i mean they could in a few years be as big as that of Linkin Park. anyway they have a myspace page. and a few months back released there first album. my favorite songs by them are " fallen ", and " innocent ". if you get the time you should check them out. i am sure they would love to hear that more people love there music especially people from out of our state and would be hysterically happy proably that people out of the country like there music.

I'd have to say Dream Theater is my favorite band. All the members attended Berkeley, so they're far from stupid, which is cool. Their songs have lyrics that convey a lot of meaning, and the vocalist has a wide range, which is always welcome.
But what really makes this band shine is that they simply don't do the standard. They deviate pretty far from it. They play in weird time signatures (5/8, anyone?), aren't mainstream, and incorporate a lot of different genres into their songs. Their declared band genre is "progressive rock", which isn't a very common one. Their level of expertise with their instruments is very high.
Their drummer, Mike Portnoy, is the youngest drummer inducted into the modern metal drummers' hall of fame, or something along those lines.
I'd have to recommend the song "These Walls" to get you started on them. Then, to hear their instrumental expertise, listen to "Panic Attack". These Walls is lyrically driven while Panic Attack is musically driven. Both are IMO amazing songs.

I'm with you all the way, though I put a different spin on why I like them. Most bands basically write a bunch of really similar songs, from form, harmony, everything. Dream Theatre really manipulates so many different aspects of music and does it well. They evolve the forms of their pieces and albums with meaning, they utilize rhythm and time in creative ways, they go outside the usual harmony of popular music. They have intelligent lyrics. Most groups are lucky if they can do one of those things well. Some can't do any well.
"Metropolis Part 2: Scenes from a Memory" is their best album.

I got into them recently because of Stadium Arcadium, "Hey" is probably the best song I've ever heard (not "Snow ((Hey Oh)), just "Hey"), and that solo... *shudders*, orgasmic.

His music is just so full of emotion, its amazing, just listen to "Loui", "Stay Crunchy", or "Messin' With Guitar Sound". His virtuosity is simply stunning.

Listen to the Amelie soundtrack, 'nuff said.

His lyrics can go from deep to downright silly in the space of a single track, but I agree with a lot of the things he raps about. His beats are original and soulful (most of the time), and his lyrics are well thought out and brilliantly executed.
Other than that, I'll listen to most other things, save for Country and Rap (but they are pretty much the same thing anyway). I love Disturbed, Korn, Jake Shimabakuro (SP?), Andy Mckee, Weird Al, Nirvana, Blue Man Group, Tay Zonday, Marilyn Manson, Classical (to a certain extent), and a ton of other stuff.

Agreed, I love the Peppers. I love their older stuff more though, their new stuff is hit or miss. I think my favorite songs off of Stadium Arcadium are either "Charlie," "Readymade" or "Make You Feel Better."

Right now my favourite band is Bullet For My Valentine, because I like their Guitar driven sound coupled with screaming, sort of emo lyrics. It's not full blown Screamo, cause it leans more towards metalcore, but I like it because they're lyrics are a little more deep than most of my other bands.
Another good band is All that Remains, another metalcore band, not much to say about them cause I can't really describe them past the facts that they rule, nice drumming, and great vocal range (for a metalcore band).
Also, can't forget about Dream Theatre, one of the few bands I like to call perfect. Also, Mike Portnoy is the SEX on drums.

I have a lot of favorite bands. These include:
1) Disturbed: Their last CD (Indestructible) is complete sex for my ears. I played that CD in my car for like 4-5 months straight and I'm still not sick of it. David Draiman has a unique voice and can really get me into the music. He's also a little crazy (when I saw them in Little Rock in April he got pushed onto the stage while standing on some type of dolley in a straightjacket and a Hannibal Lector mask. It was awesome :) ). Dan Donegan (guitar) literally influenced me with his solos to the point to where I went out and bought a guitar. I thank him for getting me to buy a musical instrument. And I can't forget Mike Wengren on the drums. His ~2 minute drum solo into "Down With The Sickness" was pure ownage.
2) Killswitch Engage: They are sort of similar to BFMV in a sense that they scream a lot. The new vocalist (:gasp: a black guy) has an amazing voice and he is an energetic person on stage. The guitar work in Killswitch is sick.
3) Static-X: Wisconsin Death Trip is a badass CD and they have made so many good songs that really pump me up. I love their style of music...and if you don't know anything about Static-X, just take a look at the lead singer, Wayne Static's hair:

4) Tool and A Perfect Circle: Yes they are two different bands with two different sounds, but Maynard James Keenan is fking awesome. Songs like "Lateralus" from Tool and "Pet" by A Perfect Circle have bought tears to my eyes because of how powerful they are.

The Pixies one of the most underrated bands ever. They started the whole alternative vibe WAY before nirvana and most 90's bands. Surfa Rosa one of the best albums ever. "ware is my mind" is their biggest hit. It the song that plays at the end of fight club.
Mastodon: talk about stoner/sledge metal. Levithan one of my all time favorite albums. Whith Crack the Skye just comming out these guys are establishing themselve as a progressive fromtliner in years to come. The drummer brann one of the best in the business and not to mention brent hinds is an amazing guitarists, some of his solos are out of this world.
Alkaline trio: always loved these guys since Maby ill Catch Fire. Saw them last month, great show. Their lyerics are pretty good. And they could give to fucks less about money it's all about the music.
The Melvins: I can even to begin to go amazing these dudes are, they really are undescriable.
And many many many more. . .
