Your own design (If any)

I was just looking though the forum and I didn't even see this (At least I didn't notice any.) What if you guys have your own giant robot designs. I want to see something practical or theoretically practical. I spent about a year in Digipen robotics so I have a pretty good understanding of mechanical lingo and am pretty good with my crap detector. I'm still working on my giant robot design and I'll post an update when I can find something well... Practical, also we need to consider military application as well, after all a giant robot in the US military is being looked into with bi~g juicy contracts meaning make sure it can withstand a 7.62mm round to the joints (possibly using overlapping armor that can move.) Though kinda robotic, kinda serious, but a whole lot a fun.

I have a really epic crappy rough draft but that's all it is, obviously I don't have the speaker attached to anything yet however I'm doing the best that I can for only a short year of education in the field. (Seriously it makes me look bad but hell I can't help it.) Also the "8 bit - bread board" for those of you who don't get it is a 8 bit slave drive connected to a bread board.

Sometimes during my spare time or when I'm bored in class I draw some of my own Gundam designs or take mechs from other series and give them a Gundam facelift.

I actually got into the business of mecha doing that. Started out simple then it kinda became more serious, eventually I found myself in robotics. Kinda strange story.

Robots are cool. Transformers actually got me into the robot world. It's just very fascinating to see how the machine moves and such.

Same here. i too sometimes use my spare time to draw my own design of mechs, gundam or Super Robots. i sometimes even use mechs from star wars and turn them into transformer design. i like mechs, they look cool and fantastic.

Yes, robotics are certainly fun indeed. After all a robot that I built is the only friend I need. But in all honesty I do enjoy building robots. Probably the biggest project I've been involved with was a maglev when I in robotics. It's actually very hard to build one that's stable, especial I found if it's a gondola imagine flying three hundred miles an hour in the air when all of a sudden one magnet goes off or something and you're sent sky high. Not a nice landing to say the least... -_-
Also as a side note here's kinda what my gondola would have looked like.

I draw a lot. It's almost always mecha. Usually I'll make up my own Gundams or Super Robots but sometimes I might draw pre-existing Gundams or Super Robots to gauge my skills by comparing it to the originals.

This is a design I had in my head for a while, I can't draw that well so it doesn't perfectly convey the idea, but it's more of a truck that can fold out legs for uneven terrain rather than an actual mecha. I had more ideas in my head, but I either lost my sketches of them or was too bad a drawer to draw them.



The "eye" was inspired by EVA-00, and the original design had only two legs and two arms, but I figured it would move rather awkwardly that way. However I think it looks a bit too much like an AT-AT now...

Ha, that reminds me my teacher tried to make something like that, turned out to be about 13cm tall and the thing crawled like it was drunk.

You said it, I don't know how many syntax errors I've gotten in the past when programming. However now I'm just dealing with the hardware, I found someone else who can do the programming, but I still program when I need to do things myself. Actually once I even managed to reverse the negative and positive when I was just starting out and didn't even know anything, and that's not even supposed to be possible...
