I badgered Jacob for a while about putting a mention of this briefly in a news topic, but it never eventuated.
This is more for the New Zealanders [if there are more than one that vist the fair plains of FAKKU]. I hope that some of you are planning on attending Armageddon! I'm going to the Wellington venue, you might see me around [no, I don't have a FAKKU shirt] I'll go to those late-night screenings of whatever, I think it's Death Note [Live Action] and something Stargate related. The event is planned for 19-20 of this month. If you're attending, then have fun! If you haven't heard of it, then visit http://www.pulpexpo.com/ That site should tell you all you need to know. It really will be a ball, and for those of you new to anime and manga, you might be able to find something relevant. Yes, the event is a sci-fi and gaming expo, but I believe that anime slips in quite nicely. Besides, it's the only decent event within New Zealand. ;_;
If I run around with a camera, I'll post some pictures of the event. Just nothing with me in it. Since I live in town, I'll be back for the 'night shift' as it were.

Yeah, I am! Glad I could remind you, I've been keeping an eye on the dates. Only next week! So if you're in Wellington, rush to pre-book those tickets. 32 bucks from ticketec for both days [6 dollar special fee]

nah im in auckland and i dont really have a chance of heading down south...
didnt really like the last armageddon i was at, everything was insanely expensive and i missed most of the special screenings

Hah, I wouldn't rush out of my hometown for 'geddon either. I didn't know about the pricing of goods, but knowing my very open wallet, I'll still leave with SOMETHING each day.
I think the Auckland one is closer to the end of the year, but I can't remember very well. ^^;
I'll probably be everywhere at once, I love to run around when I'm full of energy. I doubt NZ will get any good cons, too small. Perhaps if one was to head to Aussie they might find some more.

yea i usually go for to look at the anime and stuff but i just end up thinking "why don't i just download this" and dont buy it.
I just end up watching the crappy wrestling or somthing...
They had one of the WWE chicks in Auckland last year though the first thing I ended up thinking was she wasn't really that hot in person and dam she was short as hell
the last thing i bought from armageddon was a stupid wooden sword coz they were trying to clear all their stuff and were selling it cheap

Grr. The downloading spirit. I love to collect things, and I'd rather have a DVD version to support Japan and its industry.
Lol, WWE. Posters are always a cheat though, making people look pretty. I do like short girls though...

nah our cosplay people havent ever been very good... you might see a few groups of people walking around in bleach costumes but thats about it

Hmm. Well, as late as this is, I guess I could post the event happenings.
I went to the first day rather bubbly, ready to face however many people’s smell to get an item that I may wish to acquire.
I managed to time my leaving [Read: I slept in] perfectly and met up with two friends that were at the front of the line. I snuck in with them, handing over my pre-booked ticket to acquire a flimsy pinkish wristband. With a sigh, I lurched ahead into the unknown that is a convention. Sticking as a group through the throng of people was difficult to say the least. I lost pretty much everyone at the start and made my way to the various anime/manga stalls.
The event was held in a decently sized centre, but there were far too many people crammed in, so it was a mission to actually get anything. After drifting around a few times, I brought a couple of DVDs from the cheap Madman bin, and met up with one friend who wouldn’t let go of the Wii controller and kept playing SSBB. It’s not released here yet, as you may have guessed. I listened to some badly done English dubbed anime half-heartedly, and then made for the exit. On the way, I purchased two wall-scrolls [and thanks to Arren, as he’s known on FAKKU’s IRC channel, I managed to get a nice Chii one that another friend may have nabbed.] I went back to my apartment for a bit to dump my gear and do some things on my computer, before going back for a small portion of the afternoon. Went home, watched a bit of anime and a few movies with friends who were staying the night.
The next day, I got up late and sent everyone off to the event, not highly enthused about going back into the mess of bodies. After wasting away most of the morning, I headed in and met a few of the dudes who were staying at my place. I let them know the foyer door code so they could dump their stuff and I headed to the event with Arren.
The only difference was there were far more cosplayers. Ichigo from Tokyo Mew Mew, Misa from Death Note and Optimus Prime [which I laughed at, because he was only in cardboard, with his mate wearing a bit of cardboard over his face with >:3 scribbled on it] to name a few. I eventually parted with more money to buy the first four volumes of Midori Days, which were far more detailed than the anime as would be expected.
After that, I watched a few things happen in the Main Stage and couldn’t be arsed running after the free Mars bars. Upon meeting with my friend who had been playing SSBB most of the two days, he waved a PS3 game in front of my face that he won by answering the question “What is the next game in the Guitar Hero series going to be called?” and by getting oh-so-many points on a particular song in GH[whateverversionheplayed].
In reflection, it was worth going to but I did have the advantage of only living a few minutes away so I didn’t really mind heading home to eat or drop off things. I’m thinking about going to the Auckland version, as it’s apparently far more entertaining and biiiig. But we will see, as going to Thailand in two weeks will blow me out of the water financially.
I’ll post pictures of my wall-scrolls when I get around to taking pictures.

Hmm, didn't really notice this thread till now. Yeah, it was pretty average, but I guess it was fun. Nothing much that I can say, thanks to Hibia (less typing, woo), but yeah, they showed DUBBED ANIME (had to do that =P). It wasn't CCS dubbed bad, but still kinda iffy.
And there actually were quite a few cosplayers around, though there were signicantly more on Day 2, I think. The guy with the ">:3" thing also had a cardboard sign around his neck saying "Jesus Christ, it's a lion, get in the car!", who I told to do a barrel roll (memes, hell yeah!). And a lot of maids as well *shudder*. Not pretty enough in my opinion. A lot of Bleach people, as you do, a loli (it may have been the Misa that Hibia mentioned), and surprisingly, a lot of D.Gray-man people, yay! I'm still waiting for a Singaporean publisher to release the manga, just so I don't have too much VIZ in my collection.
Anyway, it was ok, but probably only worth going for a day. Maybe the first one, there was more stuff to buy then. And less fat maids. Meh, maybe I'll go to Auckland, there's anime stuff to buy there, Armageddon or no. If I find the money...
And if anyone here wants to come to NZ for Armageddon [or to annoy Hibia] (rofl, people coming to NZ for anime), don't. It sucks here, srsly. Go to Australia; from what I remember, they have at least THREE anime conventions there, not including Armageddon. I could have gone to one, but I had no moneys T_T
