Chase bad experiences??

Okey so if as a person you learn(ed) to take bad experiences in life as a lesson and a way to make you more mature and have better understanding of what it's going on, then should we pursue having bad experiences to become stronger as persons or what i am writing is just nonsense?

A smart man learns from his mistakes. A wise man learns from the mistakes of others.

That depends, really. Not all experiences make you stronger.

Rape? Child abuse? I wouldn't want these to happen to anyone. Sure, it might make you more emotionally tough, but the price isn't worth it. And sometimes being emotionally tough isn't a good idea either (child abusers were very likely those who were abused as children themselves). On a personal level, I've had several experiences I'd rather not have, like tuberculosis, kidney failure, and stroke. Those things have hardly made me stronger.

You SHOULD learn from bad experiences, but actively seeking them out is another thing entirely.

A wise man can learn from mistakes of others, but the experience he recieves is considerably smaller (exept mistakes that can cost your life).

When i do something for the first time, there is a high chane it will suck or will go bad. Personal hands on approach for me is best. Do it yourself, so you know better, what went wrong, and how wrong.

This question is kind of self-defeating.
We learn from our mistakes in order to not make the same mistake again... If I have to seek out a specific mistake to make, which I'm most likely not going to make, thus the seeking out of it; what benefit would I get from learning from it? I probably wouldn't come across the mistake in order to avoid it?

I've had ad experiences with bad experiences, so I tend to avoid them voluntarily. If I do live through one, then sure, I'll learn from it, but actively seeking bad experiences to collect data from them as to not repeat them.

Thats like taking heroine to make sure you won't ever take some again.

It doesn't make sense in the real world. In theory, I agree with you, but this method just isn't applicable to this plane of reality.

Seeking bad things is just folly. Why would a person do that. I can understand learning from mistakes, but one can also learn from the mistakes of others as well. One sees them make the mistakes that one could have made and one should learn from that.

We learn from our mistake so that they don't happen again. Another reason we learn from our mistakes is cause we didn't want them to happen the first time (or a second time, or a third etc, etc). If we didn't care about making the mistake we wouldn't want to learn form them in the first place. So with all due respect isn't really stupid to go "chase bad experiences". Hope that made sense if not i apologize

The point of learning from your mistakes is to avoid them, not to repeat them. If you keep repeating the same thing then you learn nothing

As an individual who continuously repeats his mistakes I take solace in the fact that my mistakes tend to be minor and often do not require correction. As for bad experiences, I just recall a worse one and it feels better. It always helps to look at some idiot who really screwed themselves over though.

Many people have already pointed out that one can learn from others mistakes. As people are able to learn through mistakes that others have made I wouldn't actively try to experience the same mistake that someone else has made already and suffer the same consequences.

You might, learn, something, sometime, if you are lucky. Maybe.

It's mostly sugar coated words to make people who have it hard feel better imo. Not something you should live after. In my experience bad experiences tend to leave more scars then lessons learned.
