Direct download vs torrents

I find a lot of hentai orientated websites predominately use direct download links. I have a decent internet connection and download limit, but I find I rarely download any big files from direct links.

The problem is, I don't have a premium account with any of the services, so for some I am stuck with downloading one file per day. Or I have to wait until one file is finished to start the other and eventually get cut off for the day.

The other downside for me is that there are so many files to download. It because a very laborious process.
Another issue is deletion due to copyright.

Don't get me wrong, I think for single files or premium users it is quite good (reliable speeds) but for the majority, I'm not sure it is. Are you guys using some program I don't know about to download multiple files at once?

I think torrents are a much better idea. They don't have the same copyright issue and they can contain copious amounts of files. There are some threads with pages and pages of links to hentai manga and each link is only 9mb. I'm not complaining, it's great they had the effort to upload it. But downloading them one by one seems rather inefficient, considering the timer per link + how fast it could be downloaded in one torrent.

It's strange that torrents aren't used often surrounding hentai, but I think it could be much better. Seeders are always an issue, but if it is popular enough it should be quite easy to download.

I find Nyaatorrents the best for Japanese media but you still might not find what you are looking for. Personally the only way I can download a VN if it is in a torrent. They usually have hardly any seeders but by a day or so I check up on the file and it is done.

What is your opinion on the matter? for DD or against?

Direct Downloads are good as long as it's on a good site (exempli gratia mediafire/megaupload IMO are the best) for when Torrents aren't seeding. Torrents are more or so my fall back.

You're actually wrong there, since this is torrent you're gonna be sharing among people and depending whatever you're downloading it could break one of the copyright laws. Thats why ISPs target torrents for piracy.

If you don't know making multiple copies of games, music etc for yourself thats fine but if you're gonna share it among other people thats when you're breaking the copyright law unless the company itself states that you can share it among like say 3 people like norton antivirus licenses.

But yes imo torrents are better if you're gonna download big files without having to download one part and wait 15 mins to download the next but I think torrents uses more bandwidth and the amount of seeders willing to seed is an issue.

It's safer to dl then torrent when your worry about the C&D letters... torrents are virus safe.

I got a C&D a few weeks ago from these bayTSP assholes. Should I be worried? All I ever torrent is anime.

No because they don't mean anything.. if there from your isp then they don't care but there made to do it. Just chill from torrenting anything and try peerblock which i haven't had a problem since i use this now.

I think that direct downloads are better for small files but for big files where you might want to just download one or two things then torrents are the way to go.

I like the direct downloads better morso because their faster (usually). I also like the torrents too for the no wating time, and I can usually find the items im looking for faster on tpb, but might not have a lot of seeders so the download might be slow and your isp might bitch at you.

Not to sound like a broken record player...But this thread might be better suited in another section. Perhaps Computers and Technology?

OT: I usually just do direct downloads. Usually, but not always. Pretty much whatever seems faster and more convenient at the time.

@cruz, probably right, I have this strange inclination for serious discussions, maybe I think the conversation will be more intelligent?

I have PeerBlock but I haven't used it (or any BitTorrent clients) recently. Do you have to manually put in the peers you want blocked or does PB block them while you use a BT Client?

DDLs are sometimes faster and don't need to have active peers to use, but if the download get interrupted for some reason, you're screwed. Torrents on the other hand are fantastic because they can download as fast as your computer can handle, not just what the site allows, and can be stopped and resumed at anytime.

I've never had a DDL link DL at 1.5 MB/S, have you?

I would imagine C&D's get sent to people who upload/distribute and download a lot of content over an extended period of time. For example seeding or downloading a bunch of big name games, movies, etc over several weeks should result in at least one C&D. I don't personally know anyone who has gotten one and I know people who download everything from expensive simulation programs to single songs. I don't think I've ever read/heard about someone getting a C&D from torrenting one song and never doing it again.

In short, don't download for a while and don't worry too much. C&D's are a "hey, you know you did something wrong right? Don't do it again"

There was a time when I got in trouble with my ISP for torrenting Rosetta Stone. I did torrent... a lot... but RS wasn't included. I could've gotten that program for free legitimately. They didn't send me a C&D letter or even warn me beforehand. I just came home one day to find my internet wasn't working. When I called them, they told me "Rosetta Stone told us to" and I said "turn it back on, thanks." They then said they were going to jot it down since it was a legal matter and I said "okay, have fun with that."

I use torrents for about everything but if I can't find a good one or if something turns out to be really rare, mediafire usually comes to my rescue. And if that doesn't work, then I give up. Also, did someone really just say that torrents are virus free?

I like getting my videos from divx streaming sites I've never really download from any where else because I can never be sure the file is exactly what they say it is not sure what you would class site like that as.

Hentai I just view it on hosting site some times I download but not a lot only from here do I have no issue about downloading I don't like using other sites that much. I can always just manually save the pictures as I view them if I feel like it though it can be annoying if I need to name the files to keep them in order.
