Things are constantly changing, and there is nothing we can do about it. I find I struggle with change quite a bit.
Of course most are going to be answers that state, "it depends what it is". If that is the case, has any change impacted you life somehow? I am interested to hear everyone.
I sometimes get freaked out by the thought of having to change something. However, it turns out its not a really big deal once it happens. I adapt pretty quickly I guess.
I wonder how my life will be impacted once I transfer to a 4-year University and live away from home. That will definitely be a big change.
Mod Note: I received a report indicating that this thread might be more appropriate for the random section. On first glance, I agree too, but I am willing to give it another chance in "Serious Discussion" to see how things develop.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Getting back on topic, there are many kinds of changes. Most of the time, the changes are beyond our control and we have no choice but to adapt. A simple example would be that of grocery prices. Consumers have the choice to switch between brands, but what happens if the price of staple food increases across the board? At the end of the day, everyone still has to eat.
Changes on a personal scale may include the transition from student to a working employee. Things have to be done differently and the level of freedom between both occupations varies too.
I have had some rather abrupt and while not life threatening certainly life changing events in the last month. After the initial OH SHIT, I always recall the words of that great sage (and habitual drunk) Barkie The Bookie
"Life fucking goes on so Deal with it or get out"
A friend once told me "you should learn to embrace change, and mock it's failings every step of the way." I agree wholeheartedly. Change happens whether you like it or not, and the best way to deal with it is just to roll with it. After all, if you don't like the change, you can always change it again!
As common as this saying goes, the only real constant is change. So far, humanity in general is coping well. Plus points also to the people saying that sudden change are bad. Last time I checked, sudden change in the earth's surface or climate usually ends up with mass extinctions.
If you can't adapt to changes, better check your bucket list off real fast.
I can adapt ok to things, but being human, I can still only adapt so fast. If the change is too abrupt or enormous, I'm gonna crumble under the pressure.
While Humans in general are very adaptive creatures, we also tend to dislike change with great abandon. We are and always will be creatures of habit.
So we'll often accept a change after it's occurred and adapt to it greatly, but we'll hate it every step of the way until we're done. And then it becomes the new habit.
Ya know I never really thought about it 'till now, but after thinking about it, I don't really seem to have trouble adjusting as much as I freak out initially. Afterwards I do okay I guess. This goes for good or bad changes also.
