Mother Nature continues to let loose on one small part of the planet ... Reuters reported Thursday that people in the Philippines were bracing for a new storm, days after Typhoon Ketsana left more than 270 dead there. The BBC reports that Vietnam and Cambodia have been hard hit by the same wild weather pattern.
Meantime, LATimes.com was reporting that more than 777 had died in the earthquakes that struck within hours of each other overnight Wednesday near Padang on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The BBC puts it at 1,000 or more.
In the South Pacific, rescuers continued to pick through the devastation wrought by the four powerful tsunamis generated by a huge undersea quake crashed into Samoa and American Samoa on Tuesday. The death toll there stood at around 140, but officials said it was rising, with hundreds missing, Reuters reported.
Aside from the latest disasters above, some of them also occurred not too long ago like the
Australian dust storm which is said to be the worst in decades and
Indonesian earthquake that struck off the west coast of Java, measured 7.3 magnitude. And the worst was yesterday which 2 earthquakes struck at almost the same time in the morning in 2 different place in Indonesia.
Disasters keeps on coming lately. Thank God, I'm not one to suffer from it first hand. But the numbers of natural disasters these days is too damn crazy, that it becomes the main topic of newspaper and talks everywhere. If this keep goes on, the 2012 nonsense is no more laughing matter.
