Hentai is restricted by law more than porn?

The main issue here is that New Zealand doesn't have any laws against bestiality and rape in pornography. If you are in New Zealand right now, go on Google and start searching up some bestiality right now they're not gonna do anything to you.

However, this student here was exiled for bringing in something perfectly legal should it have been RL pornography. The fact that it was hentai, on a fundamental level, should be even LESS harmful than pornography since as Ethan said, they're just drawings. Yet he was punished. This is absurd. It's not like he's bring in Lolicon or something. It just annoys me that if he brought in porn instead of hentai he would have been let off without any charges. If you get punished for both hentai and porn equally, you won't hear me complaining.

In other words, the only thing controversial about this case is that NZ clearly sees hentai as something more harmful and illegal than pornography. This is completely the opposite of what it's meant to be. For instance, Child Pornography is illegal in all 1st World Countries, yet Lolicon is perfectly legal in most states in the USA.

The fact that this boy was punished for owning Bestiality hentai (but people not being punished for Bestiality porn) is like people owning Child Pornography not being punished while the ones who see Lolicon are.

I don't think the purpose of this thread is to describe whether hentai is porn because that topic has already been asked plenty of times in SD. I've seen some of it before in New Zealand. I was disgusted so I never saw any again, but nothing ever happened to me for seeing it once.

Who said they were doing it legally? Wordpress doesn't allow pornography to be hosted on their services, which is why a lot of popular manga translation groups are being forced to find services elsewhere.

It is difficult to prosecute anyone, for anything on the internet, in the United States because of Net Neutrality. Certainly not impossible, but it isn't a simple of matter of them knocking down your door and arresting you. There are all kinds of legalities that have to be handled first through the court system, and what not. Because of that, a lot of minor infractions slip through the cracks because efforts to stop these sites can be better spent elsewhere.

For the same reasons not4chan and lolibooru are still active. Either the Feds do not know about them or don't deem it worth their time to raid them. All it takes is one whistle blower and somebody is getting V&

I'm guessing it was Hentai depicting the glorification of rape or tentacles. That was a big issue a while back.

If I am not mistaken, here in Sweden you may own normal porn but not hentai. Now THAT is just bullshit.

Mainly because of the miller test that 95% of hentai is gray water legal.. i'm sure if someone would get caught with files or the doujin itself then they would try to prosecute. If there any artist or scientific merit then it's lawful or just not worth the time to prosecute.
