KONY 2012: Saviour or Scam

I'm not sure if an topic discussing the recent KONY 2012 campaign has been created or not but i just had to bring this up.

As a firm believer in the good of mankind and that we can make a change, i bought into this campaign. But what has come out of it? I'm just beginning to think that it was all a scam... either just to take our money, or to invade uganda for oil.. either way, it doesn't look good for KONY 2012.

Stuff like these is ALWAYS a scam.

Africa has enough resources and military capability to support it's own weight, it's just they have a lazy ass ruler and a bunch of thugs who are greedy.

It's a Scam. Just like most charities. Only much bigger.

It was done for a good reason, my main problem is how many lies were there. There are ongoing peace talks between Uganda and Kony and the fact that he pretty much stopped and is stuck in the Congo or something.

What I find more disturbing are the "supporters", they took advantage of the fact that Youtube is mainly viewed by high school and college kids, since many don't have a "stable" political and economical standpoint, it is easy to sway them. Along with the fact that if one didn't support this, you would allow the bad guys to take over, which was completely false.

I remember reading stuff everywhere and hearing from friends of friends who were like "You're heartless!" and "You are no human if you don't pay them!" and some of those people were even gangsters and low lives, who are uneducated and always insult others. I know some very selfish people, suddenly, they care about this country and kids they probably never even heard of. Some even stated "I donated money to the Kony thing, what have you done for your life?"

To date, it is a good thing. But it is the fact that the target audience has a huge number of uneducated people. I could call it a scam.

Scam, Joseph Kony did this since 1986, Jason Russell started caring now? And also, Kony hasn't been active for 6 years now and is somewhere in the Congo.
Promised to arrest Kony in a month.
Jason got arrested in a few days.

The Kony 2012 charity aims to enter Africa all guns blazing, meaning that in their quest to find Kony, they might end up killing thousands of child soldiers, since their policy is fighting violence with violence.

Obvious scam is Obvious. But why did they need a charity for this? and not all of it actually goes to the project? wasnt their military enough? its either a scam, or cover-up for some other covert operations.

Quite sincerely not interested in Kony.



The video is nice, but frankly, for everything that has been done since the years it has started, I think that nothing will change.

It just won't. The public doesn't care. Also, going in there with an armed force? Hello? This is African war zone. Get the hell out of there.

Obviously a scam. There really isn't anything that points to them helping more than producing it.

More money that goes into them is used for paying staff salaries than actually helping the situation in Uganda.

Besides, you shouldn't invade a country just because you don't like somebody! It should only be done with a letter of marque!

Think about it. Kony 2012 was just an excuse to start another war, disguised as a hipster movement.

Look, I oppose the Lord's Resistance Army too, but America has been in constant war and tension ever since WW2 ended. Don't we deserve a break!?

You really think we were going to war over some children? We'd probably play peace maker for a few months but don't use the term War so lightly

What the heck do you think "Peace keeper" means? The only way to be a peace keeper is to do so by force. However, in this case where we would go in specifically to hunt after Kony and fight the LRA, we are taking sides with their government forces

Obviously this is more of a war than a diplomacy mission.
