Long-Term Psychological Effects of Porn/Hentai

I dont mean watching porn from time to time and enjoying it. What i mean is, what effects do watching porn/hentai almost everyday or actually everyday have on the human mind. Does watching to much porn create the sensation of wanting to be loved even greater, is there a possible risk of creating the next generation of sex offenders most which have originated from watching some harmless porn?

Some people can suffer from desensitisation, where they've seen so much porn that their desire for certain needs or fetishes can only be carried out in fantasy. Such cases usually evolve from people gradually escalating from "normal" porn to the downright nasty. There are also those who grow dependant on it, and over-masturbation in relation to pornography is a general prognosis; hell there are even groups like AA where you get these things out.

As for the next generation; tis really hard to say. Depending on the culture too, since the western civilisations have been far more open with sex than most, considering the shit the media spews at our kids these days. Pornography by standards set would generally be picked up by most boys in their young teens ranging to cases where I've seen eight year olds watching porn. It's the impact that porn has on their mental health that decides what happens to their mental capacity of sexuality in their futures, name late adolescence and adulthood.

In the case of sex offenders, one must consider underlying mental conditions prior to their offense. Porn would most definitely almost never be the cause of their criminal behaviour, as porn in these cases would serve as a trigger for underlying problems that haven't been addressed. This is only a slurring generalisation, as the case of sex offenders vary most deviantly, especially cross-culture. But I personally very much believe that porn will not be a provisional cause for any possible increase of sex offenders in the future, including the next generation.

Personally, I think porn is fine as long as it's restrained and controlled. When an individual has to go out of their routine to get their dose of porn; there be a problem amigo.

As every experimental psychologist ever has probably noted, being exposed to anything for extended periods of time that exceed what the subject wants can and will lead to aversions, sometimes strong, everlasting ones if the experience is traumatic and/or prolonged enough.

You might burn your closet to the ground and sell the wood chips. Long term effects makes you better and less shy.

The only long-term effect I've noted from having watched hentai and porn for so long its it becoming boring and predictable (which most hentai objectively are), which is why I tend to stop visiting Fakku for alternating periods of time.

Most people here have seem to have already stated the underlining issues. What I will reiterate is that it is mainly knowing to set limits for yourself. It can be something of a dependence, but that is only if you allow it to be. Watching porn or hentai is only as bad as the person watching it. There are plenty of regular people that can look at either and not have it hinder there lives.

Frankly, since we're speaking psychology, the term "addiction" is thrown a little too loosely around these days. Something as much as playing six hours of video games, regardless of looking at what the person did previously, would be considered an addiction to some. And by god don't let them know you look at hentai, for certain people would label you with the many negative stereotypes associated with it.

Set some limit so that it won't affect you in a bad way.
But truth to be told, I've never seen anyone that I know of got badly affected by watching too much porn or hentai.
Probably I'll just tease them about it (if I found one) but I don't really think it will affect his/her behaviour in real life.

The most I've ever gotten from watching too much porn, was a sore dick and desensitisation from a certain kind of porn.

Pedophilia, Rape, and such stuff existed long before porn came into the picture. Anyways, anytime someone gets addicted to the point where they need something to function whether it be porn, drugs, or even videogames its a bad thing. If someone is already going through mental issues then yes watching porn could lead them to addiction, but i don't believe that to be the majority of porn/hentai watchers. Plus with addictive personalities you can't always tell what will become there addiction

Well I'd agree on the general stuff, but also, i would say it also has an effect, positive if I may, on a few things:

-Helps you get your mind straight, or opens up your horizons in your sexual life. Which is useful(dicovering you're interested in both sexs is always nice)
-Gives you a pretty good idea of what everyone thinks around you, which is conforting, cause that way you know you're not alone (personal experience).
-Conforts you when you learn the fact that the actors in those movies have elephant's trunks instead of normal sized sexual organs.
-Also, you don't blush so much when it's talkin dirty between your friends(positive?)

I find I no longer desire to have sex I'm happy with porn though for me this was instantaneous effects that happened over time were a cleaner mind I wasn't thinking about sexual things.

I also don't have wet dreams if I keep masturbating but if I stop they come back in a few days but apparently people tell me wet dreams are meant to stop.

The same as watching the news during wartime; you will become desensitized to the material. I'm not going to lie I've developed ways of thinking from being on the internet since 36k modems and I will never be the same person I was before, but do I regret it? Hell no, I've made friendships and have learned things that would never have crossed my path otherwise.

On the subject of porn/hentai you'll end up wanting to do something you saw in a film/magazine which could in turn alienate your partner. It could also be something that they're really into...so its wishy washy.

hmmm.. in my opinion long exposure to porn or hentai might have some negative effects to a person just like dependence or more likely chronic masturbation. I guess every must be in moderation. The old saying applies that everything too much even good can be harmful.. although I must say that some of the guys or gals above shed good light on the matter.

Well I find myself more de-sensitised to certain types of porn, but on the other hand it helps me last longer. When I experienced this kind of thing for the first time when I was younger, I found myself thinking about it way too often, but the longer I kept at it, the more I was able to practice moderation. So I believe that the long-term effect of porn/hentai (like anything else in life) is a learning experience. You learn your limits and boundaries by pushing them, and you become wiser for it. You eventually find an equilibrium.
