why is the hierarchy put together in such a way where altruism is an after thought, not a pretense to happiness? in all my understanding of the world i live in on a day to day basis we are suggested to put others be for our selves and to think of the needs of the many verses our own but thats a fundamental flaw

Why worry more about a theory because it isn't based on Utilitarianism?

I think it is just human nature to look out for yourself first then the people close to you next. IF anything those 2 can be flipped, but most people aren't going to sacrifice something they need for another.
