Opinion On Random Acts of Malice

I want to know other people's opinions on people who do very cruel things to other people with very little justifiable reasons.
I will give an example. Yesterday at work (work at a music store) I was called in on my day off because someone called in. Before I left I checked the layaway area to check on a classical guitar I put on layaway the month prior. I checked on it every day because it was very important to me, I worked very hard to save up the money to purchase it. I found the guitar with the bridge ripped off by the strings and the pickup wires also ripped off. My other guitar guys as well as myself agreed that something like that doesn't just happen, someone has to actually rip that thing apart. The only people with access to that area are coworkers. So essentially a coworker dislikes me so much to wait until just before I'm about to take this guitar home, and then destroy it beyond repair (the cost of repairs are far greater than the instrument is worth). It just baffles and hurts me so very much.
I can't understand people who hurt other people without very good reason to. I've done nothing to anyone at work to warrant my and the company's property being destroyed like that you know. How do you guys feel about humanity's random acts of malice towards each other? A guitar being broken is very meaningless compared to rape and murder and all the ways humanity harms each other also...

Not only did they deprive you of something you worked hard to get, they deprived the store of merchandise and a sale.
If it was done because you were going to buy it, it was premeditated instead of random. Knowing only what you've told us, we don't know if it was targeted at you or if maybe someone was fucking pissed at the owners or the manager and took it out on a random item that happened to be the guitar you were going to buy. That doesn't mitigate destroying something used to create beauty, but it *might* not have been directed towards you.
As for actual random acts of malice, I don't believe I've ever done that. I have acted with malice aforethought, and paid the penalty for it. But never "just because."

With the way our layaway area is set up I feel like if it was an act of malice it was directed at myself not managements. The fact they waited until a few days before I was going to take it home solidifies it in my head.

Karma, kid. what goes around comes around. you might not have done something to someone at work, but maybe somewhere else in your life you did something you may not have meant to, or even know about it. or this could be banking towards something tragic being avoided later.

Karma. Really ? Eh, who am I to judge. Anyways to topic, I'll leave a paraphrased quote I heard from something( can't remember what) "unto each their own..." Their own nature, circumstance and whatever the fuck. So thus, shit happens - random acts of malice. Personal experiences with topic, I've for the most part only done things that can be considered malicious to people that otherwise screw around with me or comrades.
