Anyways, have you guys noticed that the world is in a constant state of flux? There is a saying that goes: "You can never step in the same river twice", which is true. Change is constantly going on around us and is this a good thing? Perhaps, perhaps not.
At the moment the world is more or less at peace, but a day will come forth where a new technology of sorts will be produced on a level onto which nuclear warfare will appear like a toy in comparison. In such an event, war is inevitable, regrettably and the world will be once again thrown into mayhem. But such is human nature, war is usually not started because someone is evil, it is started because someone gives into greed.
War is just 1 of many catalysts which cause the world to change, others being natural disasters and occurrences like earthquakes and epidemics etc.
Now the big question is does the world need to change? Is change a necessity for existence? There was a time when all of the Earth's land mass was one big island. If the world didn't change, wouldn't that be way more convenient?
Is there anything in the universe that doesn't change? Well, I can only think of physics laws like gravity, but gravity is dependent on physical mass, meh I'm not sure.
The world doesn't need to change one bit, it is we, the human beings that need to change.
We are consuming at an horrific rate and we are not doing anything to reproduce the resources humans need to stay alive.
Yes I strongly agree that things are constantly changing, what might appear in front of us is slow progress, is in fact on a microscopic level very different. Nature reproduces itself at an astonishing rate if we just leave it alone to grow.
War?
Don't get me started there.
George Calin, a person who spoke the truth in the most dramatic, comedic, and philosophical way possible.
Change happens, it is inevitable and will always go on until the end of time.
I do not believe that change is required for existence. Strictly speaking, if nothing "changed" (large upheavals, etc), something could exist ad infinitum. However, humans do prefer (and seek) change. A balance of chaos and order is what suits most people the best, and has been reflected by centuries of human society. As the saying goes, "Variety is the spice of life".

This George Calin inspires me, shame he died.
I think he was on dot about society and the way it is ruled by people behind the scenes with the illusion of freedom. However, society and it's illusions are for another discussion.
I may need to be more specific on what I mean by change; rather, not change as individuals of a human race, but change as a race existing in the universe. Erm, I hope you know what I mean?
Has the universe and it's system not got to a point in which it changes so much that it is in fact not changing in the fact that it is constantly changing? I like to think of it as the pokemon ditto (lol, bad analogy). Ditto can change into any pokemon, but it still has it's original formless-self.
Putting my bad explaining aside, I hope you understand xD

It's all opinion territory here.

Well, philosophy is based on reason ^_^
Anywho, I see your point, I guess things would become 'stale', so to speak. However, change is probably why society is as flawed as it is in terms of issues like war.
Please be really specific about this because I am trying to really understand now.
It's cool, I don't understand what I'm saying myself half the time either ^_^
When I ponder over anything philosophical, I tend to look at a 'bigger picture', so rather than looking at this from your personal point of view, look at it as a 3rd party, but not a human 3rd party, more like a you-don't-exist-but-you-know-what's-going-on 3rd party. I reckon it leads to a better insight.
Now, I'm going to commit the fallacy of composition here and assume that the universe has been constantly changing since the beginning of it's existence. Then go back to my first post.
It should make sense *Finger's crossed*

If we don't leave an anthropocentric standard of society wouldn't that lead to the world needing to change? And if change is inevitable why do we need to change?

Change is inevitable because it is natural and constantly does. ( Bad Answer )
While we do need standard of society, it is also important to change into a better society with each passing time, refusing to "evolve" as a society meaning refusing the changes that come with it.
Take 10,000 BC. for example and 2012 now ... a lot has changed hasn't it? That is because we strive to change for our daily lives to be much easier and proceed to the next level of society.

And if change is inevitable why do we need to change?[/quote]
I really don't understand that question but i'll try answering it. We operate poorly as a society, why? Are we all not human beings, isn't it our job to support one another? Are we not the species that is more capable and excels all other species in the world? I really did not think about that until I backed up and saw the bigger picture. Change for me means becoming better and more adaptable to the inevitable changes that comes with it in our daily lives. Sure we humans have created a system for ourselves in which we can work, have fun, and also do the things we are able to do now, however is it really a change?
Change means also survival, that is what surviving and adapting is all about, we hold together to achieve a better society. We are so much capable of doing things now than we did over 5000 years ago, or not? But like I said we operate poorly because of our selfish demands in life, survival of the fittest right? Not really, since we also changed and obtained knowledge that lets us not need to survive in such a fashion because supporting each other is the best change that society needs to become better.

Isn't that the fault of big government lobbyists and governments with their god damn pointless wars and globalization?
Doesn't the army use more fuel and create more environmental damage than the average population? If you fire even a "test" missile, do you realize how much environmental damage it creates, and how much it pollutes?
What about depleted URANIUM equipment for troops?
And just all the ridiculous levels of gas-over usage to power the military's super-vehicles?
And isn't this lack of resources all just a hysterical illusion? isn'I it the government lobbyists who try to ban other, renewable resources, (most popular being hemp) just so they could make a quick buck?
I fail to believe the earth does not have enough resources. This planet is HUGE!
The government simply wants people in a state of fear so they could control us. If prices go up, that is because our dollar goes down!
Why is this all happening? My guess is Ben Bernake simply wants a blowjob from a stripper in his jacuzzi!
This is what happens when governments play with the value of their dollar.
