Weird companion

I kinda have a small problem. Im not what some people would call child friendly. At all. I hate children so very much. But because of certain circumstances the daughter of my girlfriends friend is staying with us for about six months, and there is no way to get out of it. I normally would be fine with that because most children fear me, but this one wont leave me alone. thursday next week will be the first month that she has been staying here and I feel like I have a daughter. I mean it isnt that bad, she isnt like most children. But she still wants to bother me 24/7 and hang out with me and stuff. She also always wants me to carry her around all the time as well (let the records show she just turned like five) and treat her like a stuffed animal or something. And being with me all the time of course I just HAD to show her anime (NOT HENTAI) and it turns out that she really likes it so that actually is a nice way to get her to leave me be for a bit. Now today I was finally left alone to do me stuff for a bit while the girls went out shopping, and then they come back with a bunch of new outfits (I had to pay bribes to get my girl to take her, she is so wonderfully evil) and this little backpack kinda thing. Its actually more of a pouch then a bookbag, I forget what its actually called. Anyways they bought that so I could carry her around in it when we all go out together. But now soon Ill have to go on a trip for my job and will be gone for two weeks. I thought Id be ecstatic but I just feel kind of empty. And that makes me confused. Ive always hated children to a maximum, but...Im starting to feel like she just belongs in my day or something. I dont know if thats actually a problem, I just waned to hear someone elses opinion about it. Am I overeacting or something?

You have become attached to her, therefore you are good friends (in a sense). It's normal. Treat her like a best friend :) You'll be a good father :)

agreed! you probably won't hate children when you become a daddy! OR you'll just look down on other children and treat your child as a treasure! (that came out wrong...) but anyway it just shows you care ;D

Yeah, you just became attached to her. Kids to seem to have an uncanny ability to do that. I'm pretty disdainful of children myself, but I have a niece that I'm fairly attached to as well, but she is growing up (I think she is seven now) so she is at that age where she doesn't want to be with me all the time, and to this day I'm still kind of saddened by that.

Personally I couldn't stand children right now, my job has me around them all day and they get on my nerves a lot. Though I will say I don’t hate them just don’t want to be around them when I get home. Though I don’t hate them because I hate parents and adults a lot more because of my job. That hate has pushed out my hate for children, I know there not as bad as the adults I have lost all respect in.

Though yeah attachment is all this is though you should enjoy your time because soon enough she’ll be a teen and hate you.

Yea i agree,you've become attached which is totally normal. I use to work as a assistant teacher in a summer day camp and the kids where like 5-8 yrs. old and they would annoy the heck out of me, but after 2 weeks i really got use to them and they suddenly didn't seem annoying anymore, now i work there every summer :D

yeah it's cute indeed, the problem you should be worrying about is when her real parents take her back again if it's hard now it'll be twice as hard after a few more months. But you can also become friends with her mother and become a kind of fun uncle to the child as it's growing up.

Anyways an update would be that she wanted me to take her out in that bookbag/pouch thing (I STILL cant remember the name of it!) so yesterday I spent an entire day just walking around with her and buying a lot of snacks (we are both black holes so it was especially fun) then we somehow ended up near the water. After that we spent the rest of the day just sitting there and eating icecream until around sunset. After that we realized we were completely lost and I had to use my cell to call my GF and spent like two hours trying to give her directions to where we were (Which is incredibly hard if you have no idea where you are) and finally we found each other at the icecream shop. It turned out the entire time we were only two blocks away from home..

But I didnt even care, I had so much fun! I feel like a little kid again.

Well maybe it's time you considering getting a child of your own? I don't know how old you are but your clearly getting attached to this child, maybe it means something. Either way you should put in some serious though about if you want to keep in contact with her after her parents come back and how you'll try to get that.

Because either way, you may not want to be a father because it takes some time before a child becomes as big as that girl.

that's only at first, a cat will become a lot more like family as they grow up. While a dog will always stay a baby slave. As a dog will only do what you tell them to do so it won't really feel like much expect the fact you have someone who will never leave you.

A cat on the other hand will fuck up your entire goddamn house if she's mad at you, she'll tear up the sofa, she'll piss infront off the tv and cry for hours if you've mistreated her. A cat will use you to get food and warmt and that will be what it stays as, until the cat starts to love you, then the cat will come and comfort you. It'll follow you around everywhere to the point it drives you nuts. it'll sleep on the table next to your computer instead of in the cosy bed
