I should not have said that. Now I just gave them another target.
That's a poor analogy. Clothes can't be replicated instantly and easily for virtually no cost. There is only one copy of a piece of clothing. To copy that peice you would have to put in the same amount of effort as you did the original one.
To answer your question: no it doesn't follow because I can sell or gift my original DVDs but I can't copy them to duplicate ownership of that one item.
The thread title also makes the assumption that file sharing is gone so before I answer that I have to go back and see if this is true. It's not because there's still torrenting, p2p, and other file-sharing sites.
