for the most part, yes, you would generally be right, as the translators will usually translate the title as well. Aside from that, the rule of thumb I go by is that if the person sharing does not mention its translated, there is generally an 80-90% chance it is not. Also, check the master list of games- all the games that are translated are marked as being so in the master list (provided it has made it on there)

Just so if you didn't get me the first time round, I am implying that a translation is usually NOT expected within close range of an Japanese eroge's release date.<- if this is not clear enough, i mean that should game publishing companies want to license the title for translation and release, they wouldnt pick one that had just recently came out (i would think that the risk/cost of doing a still 'unproven' title would deter a businessman<- that and the cost of license could be higher at the this point in time). on the fan translators' side, i would think that these people would more likely translate something that has a larger fanbase("it's always better to reach out to more people if i had a choice, if not, why would i even bother reaching out?")<-following my own logic, a fanbase would most likely only increase over time, even if a translation effort were to start out, chances are that it would START OUT a while after the release, not COMPLETE a few days after the release.


You see, uploaders usually give you the getchu links, and I took a snapshot of the getchu info page and underlined the Genre portion of this particular game, its ADV. ADV stands for Adventure Game. Probably your most common type of eroge, dialogue/monologue, click-click, ctrl when you need to skip chatterings you had already seen before<- to clear endings. E.g. Kanon, AIR, Clannad, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, etc as listed in japanese wiki page for galge adventure games. The second thing I would do(after checking out the pics) would be to find out what kind of a game whatever i am interested in is. is it those kinda illusion brand interaction games? rpg types? I noticed i am getting off track. Ok. For an ADV title, it usually means a whole lot of words, moonrunes to translate. As such, it would be safe to assume that translation would take TIME. Time as in, not like the translator is gonna forgo food and sleep just to give you your favourite sex scenes in english lightning-quick, but time to figure out how to restructure sentences while not omitting any 'could-be' important details that should be in it. Notice that I am not saying a lightning fast translation effort is not possible, just VERY not likely.

You can also check out sites like http://novelnews.net/,http://visual-novels.net/ where they do the news collating and you do simple reading. One visit per week and I'm sure the forums would have less of these annoying "is this english?" posts. http://vndb.org/ could also help you find answers.

"Google is your friend"... blablablah. You can always find out faster than waiting for the the next annoyed reply to your "english?" question .... Hmmm if you took time to think about this situation, if you really wanted the answer, you would search for it. Therefore, it is either out of laziness, failure to get the search engine to do your bidding, or a desire to annoy that anyone would post: "ENGLISH?"

You see, when the uploader posts his links, he probably didnt waste time and bandwidth out of neutrality, he would have something to gain from you and me should we download, maybe satisfaction or something else. A translated title would then obviously be an additional plus towards his uploads. So, if the title is translated, WHY THE HECK WOULDNT HE TELL YOU? Do you somehow harbor some sort of a conspiracy theory that the whole world is against you? that "bloody hell, the uploader must have withheld information that this game is in english, just so that i cannot enjoy this".

of course, my whole argument is unnecessarily exaggerated and mean. I do, however, believe that these people can actually find out for themselves, and their "is english?" posts somehow portrays to me their mindset of "i wanna know, you tell me". and that annoys me.
