Gaming has come a long way, from simple graphics with little or no storyline, all the way to the complex titles available today. The purpose of this thread is to take a walk down memory lane, recalling the games that have left wonderful memories in your mind.
Some of the titles may be unknown to you people, but if you do recognize them, do engage in discussion, like you did with friends during your earlier schooling days. Feel free to talk about the games that have left an impact on your life too, regardless of their platform. Of course, some images would help trigger our memories. :D
To start the ball rolling, here are mine:
-
Quest for Glory series by Sierra, notably the first (remake) game, and the fourth. Unfortunately, I never got around to playing the fifth installment. In this series, if you aren't importing a character over from the previous games, where you become a Paladin, you get to choose from 3 classes: fighter, magic user and thief. Set in the fantasy world, you not only have to solve puzzles, but engage in fights with monsters and villains, to complete the ultimate quest. To this very day, I can still hum its lovable theme.

Crusader No Remorse and No Regret. One of the few games in which you have to restart your windows into the DOS system before being able to play it. You play a Silencer, an elite super soldier, which resembles Boba Fett from Star Wars. Set in the future, you defect from the government and join up with the resistance to overthrow the former. The game is interesting with its large arsenal of weapons, ranging from assault rifles all the way to spider mines. Valves along the war can be turned on and off to freeze and burn enemies respectively. Along the way, you can even employ mechs to aid yourself in destroying (or rather, killing) enemies. Definitely a sadistic game in my time. :D

Heroes of Might and Magic series. If you are a loyal follower of the HOMM series, then I am sure you will agree that the second and third instalments are the best of the lot. It is a unique turn-based game, once again set in the fantasy world, where you get to choose from different classes, build up your own castle and train your very own units. Players take turn to roam the map, obtain resources, fight monsters and eventually conquering the land by defeating the other players. One unique feature of the game would be the "hot seat" mode, where many players can take turns to play the game on just one computer.

X-com: UFO Defense. Set in the future, you set up a base to combat the alien threat. Along the way, you can recruit soldiers to fight, scientists and engineers to engage in development of new weapons, as well as expand your base. When entering the combat screen at a UFO crash site, you get to deploy your soldier based on their movement points, ordering them to lie flat, crouch, stand and all sorts of other options. Killing an alien enables you to retrieve its body and bring it back to headquarters for dissection. I remember my very first mission fondly, where I threw a grenade in the spacecraft, killing everyone even before they engaged the aliens. :D Unfortunately, I couldn't find any screenshots for this game.
There are many other classic games which I have played including
Warcraft 2 (where sea battles were possible), Dune 2, Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Raptor: Call of the Shadows... the list goes on. Perhaps I will talk about them again another day.
P.S. #1 I am not sure if anyone else has played the hentai strategy game, entitled
Lakers, where schoolgirls can become superheroes, battling monsters. I believe there are 3 games in total. Yes, there is a hentai movie for it.
P.S. #2 I am not sure if there is an identical topic since I only glanced through the video games section briefly. Besides, this is an old topic I created for the other forums I frequent. *sweat*
