When the the brilliant head of the largest corporation in the world plays god, a lone covert team is sent into a maelstrom of paranoia and bloodshed.
Sega's third person shooter Binary Domain, once thought to be nothing more than a Gears clone with robots, has finally shaped into its own, showing us just how much story there is behind the action title.
With a game as rife with emotions as it is bullets, it's only natural that the gameplay would have just as much character interaction as shooting. Ergo Binary Domain's biggest trait:
The Consequence System
Binary Domain, for those who can't already tell, is from the same studio that brought the intensely dramatic (and skull-crackin') brawler/RPG hybrid Yakuza series. The conspiracy and destruction will be coming to your PS3 and 360 this February 28.
...I know the trailer said it. I just mentioned it because some people might not watch the trailer. Stop being so judgmental, Reader.

Really? Well I guess thematically I get what you mean. It's going for that "technology gone too far/corporation(s) taking technology down a dark path" sort of deal aside from revolving around that ancient philosophical quandary about life.
What do you think on a whole, though? If you know about the Yakuza games you can rest assured the dramatics will be great for this game too. It is from the same team and director that brought that series out (a personal favorite of mine).
On that note, here's an interesting quote about the choice to make it into a TPS from the director Daisuke Sato:
"Choosing to create a game that was a Third Person Shooter was not initially what we had in mind. We were not sure what we should do but in the end the shooter fitted. It was not just as a way to appeal to a larger Western audiences, as traditionally the Yakuza series does poorly outside of Japan, by creating a shooter we would loose some of that audience because the Japanese largely do not enjoy shooters. We felt that this game could open the window of entry to both sides of the globe as we could interest Western fans with the shooting and gameplay and interest the Eastern audiences with the involving story and character interaction too."

It's unsettling that they think the West cares only about the shooting and East cares about an intricate plot, but comparative game sales keeping trying to prove that idea right.
Finally they put out a good trailer for it in English.
Also, I don't know Japanese, but it looks like you can command your squad members and interact with them via headset as well (otherwise you can use the D-pad):
I cannot believe in a community of active gamers that this game not only went under the radar but no one but me decided too make a topic about it....

Spoiler:
Binary Domain in my opinion is an action adventure tactical(squad-based) third person shooter set in the year of AD 2080. The line between man and machine is becoming blurred as a shady corporation is causing machines too constantly evolve. These machines are secretly being given human characteristics as well resulting in many other organizations and governments taking notice.
You play as Dan who is always refered too as "The Survivor" by his comrades. He does not like too stay behind. He is gungho and always on the frontlines. His comrades are Big Bo-weapons:HMG, Decoy Device/specialty:High stamina & Fire Power, Charlie-weapons:SMG, Various Explosives/specialty:tactical, Faye-weapon:sniper rifle/specialty:marksman, Rachael-weapons:shotgun, RPG/specialty:close quarters combat, and a robot named Cain.
Dan Marshall's class seems to be your typical point man. His main weapon is an assault rifle and it has some sort of EMP launcher equipped under the barrel.
The game starts off by the US government sending two special forces operatives too Tokyo to investigate if clause 21 has been breached and if any "Hollow Children" had been developed by Yoji Amada of the Amada Corporation. They want him brought in for questioning due too the assassination attempt in Detroit done by one of the Hollow Children that only he could possibly create. I will not spoil the rest of the story for you(not that I give a damn about spoilers) but I can guarantee you this...This game is the new Mass Effect to me.
Mod Note: Similar, if not identical, topics have been merged.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
More something we should be saying, mate. Thanks though.
OT: This game does what most RPGs don't even do, and that's make your choices really matter. I just saw two playthroughs where two different characters acted totally different in a cutscene thanks to the difference in loyalty.
That my friend is why I like this game so much. Hell, if you shoot, melee, say something stupid(depends on if you play with a headset), or do not keep promises that you agree to with them in the heat of battle. They will react more negative towards you and not even bother to help you in firefights or if you get downed during engagements.
I like the fact you can hold down the sprint button and still shoot at the same time! That is a big deal to me.
The melee in this game is a bit meh however depending on what weapon you have in your hand when you swing at a robot. Some do more damage then others. The weapons are pretty cool.
I hate that this game has regenerating health however at least you have to buy med packs and they are limited depending on how many you buy for you and your team.
The AI on this game is cool and there is a bunch of ways to take out the robotic enemies of this game. Like shooting off the head makes the standard enemies not be able to tell the difference between friend or foe. You can shoot off the robots legs and arms as well. What I like is when you shoot off the robots arm they will pick it up with the other and etcetera.
Really wanna try out this game, but I don't have enough money to buy it. That just leaves me hoping that RedBox makes it available for rental as there's no Blockbuster or rental stores (open ones, anyway) around here for miles.

Take your time. Hell if you can get this game as a bargain bin deal that might work better toward your advantage.

I never care about multiplayer. That said, though, yes, the multiplayer is very good.
