That isn't how Gamestop decides their prices. If something is older it sells for less.
You won't see a copy of Persona selling for sixty dollars just because it's an immensely popular game.
It'll be twelve dollars because it's a PS2 game.
Nope, I used to work there. Another example is how Marvel vs Capcom 2 was $59.99 up until they re-released it on PSN. It was a game already 8 years old. They price their games like any retailer prices anything, because of supply and demand. Persona isn't in high demand by mainstream society, just people into that kind of gaming.
Look at MW2 on their site right now. I bet that despite coming out BEFORE Mass Effect 2 it will be higher in price because nobody trades the game in so it is more rare and in more demand than a newer game like Mass Effect 2.
60gbs PS3s are more rare and in higher demand than PS3 120gb so obviously the price is going to be higher despite however long its been out.
Gamestop doesn't follow any price guidlines for its used merchandise like other retailers because the don't get used merchandise from manufacturers or publishers. They buy it all from customers, so they can charge whatever they want since they effectively become a pawn shop.
Matter of fact, some Gamestops are considered pawn shops and in states like Texas, Florida, and Louisiana they have to hold the merchandise for 30 days before selling it just like a pawn shop would (in case the used merchandise was stolen).
