No, that's not it.
In the original Doom 3, the flashlight was a separate weapon. So you had to choose between shooting your gun, or holding your flashlight. It added in a bit more tense atmosphere in the game. My friend summed it up best:
"By letting you hold your flashlight and a gun, it turned a pretty scary game into a mediocre corridor shooter"
But the flash-light runs out of charge so quickly..
Also in the original all you had t do was hit F (default) and you would swap between flashlight and last used gun. I am actually in the darkness a lot more often in the BFG remake then I was in the original.
Was there anything else wrong with it? or is it just purists being purists?
