I'm thinking About Buying Modern Warfare 2 and I need advice

Hey everyone. Right now I'm thinking about buying Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 for the PC but I not sure about it. Right now its only $40 on steam as opposed to $60 and I just participated in the new Metal of Honour open beta and I found I really liked it. I've tried playing multiplayer shooters before like Battlefield 1942, Team Fortress 2, and Call of Duty 2, but I was never very good at them, I would just die over and over again without making any kills.

I had a good experience with Metal of Honour and from what I've heard Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer is really good and that there are a lot of customization options (I love being able to customize my character.)

But I'm not really a hardcore gamer, I play a lot of games but I'm in it to have fun, not to sacrifice a lot of my time getting really good at multiplayer.

So if there are any Modern Warfare 2 players out there, please advise me. Will I have fun playing Modern Warfare 2 if I just play it casually? Or will I just end up getting killed over and over, and have wasted $40?

You'll get killed over and over again in any FPS, if you don't put in some effort.
I assume this may be even more the case in a game with realistic graphics, like BF.

Also, I hear Bad Company 2 has better MP. Haven't played it myself though.

My point is, from the sound of things, shooters just ain't your thing. So I say, don't buy it.

Let's start it like this.
1: If you get MW2, you are no longer a casual player since this game is addictive beyond comprehension.

2: Why get MW2 when you have Black Ops coming out in 1 month?

3: Players out there, already know everything there is to know about the game mechanics/maps so it gets kinda lame for starters.


I would suggest for you to wait a bit and buy Medal of Honor or Call Of Duty Black Ops later on. MW2 is just not the choice anymore.

Either wait for moh or black ops to drop or get bad company 2..avoid mw2 cause it's community will die a bit at the release of black ops leaving only the hardcore ,and the late updaters for black ops..either way..you will die ALOT ,besides with the limited edition bc2 out now ,and the Vietnam update coming it's a solid buy

Dont get MW2, its garbage in every way, get Bad Company 2 or at least MoH when It comes out. Both of those games do require skill though. not like MW2 where as all you need is a noob tube and your good to go.
In my opinion, dont get it.
Or at least wait for Black ops and hope that its somewhat better that mw2.

I hate playing FPS on PC(keyboard/mouse). IMHO, controler is the only way to go, and i haven't found a decent PC controler. beyond that, i have nothing to say.

Not true, it's pretty fun on PS3.

OT: Forget MW2, Black Ops is out next month, people are gonna stop playing MW2 and switch over to Black Ops.

There is no point in buying Modern Warfare 2 - it is a broken game, as opposed to Modern Warfare 1; which is a lot better. It is perhaps one of the worst games I have ever played, and I can't even begin to get into it because the whole game is awful. The people who play/have played it will know what I mean: 'noob tubes', spawn tubes, commando, the spawn system, the kill cam (you don't see what you saw on your screen), the list goes on.

Black Ops comes out next month so Modern Warfare 2 will soon be a dead game.

MW2 is a fun game, and it can be played casually, people who say its broken are wrong, sure there are problems, but not enough of them to keep you from having fun playing, but also, Black Ops is coming out too, so id just wait

It's pretty late to get MW2 now, go with Black Ops.

Wait for Black ops, and see if it has good dedicated server system or not. THEN YOU BUY BLACK OPS AND NOT THAT SH*TTY ASS MW2.

Well based on everyone's advice I've decided to wait for Black Ops to come out. It sound like when Black Ops comes out all that will be left playing Modern Warfare 2 will be the hardcore players. I thought about getting Metal of Honor but then I read the review on IGN, based on that and my experience the beta I think $60 is too high of a price tag.

So I'll wait for Black Ops and hope its good.

Aside from having no dedicated servers, not being able to find a game at times and more holes than a colander it's a great game to have a blast at once in a while if you're bored.

Correction, kids who can't play well in Black ops now that they can't quickscope with SoH pro, commando lunge, or one man army noobtube will be the only ones left in MW2. Oh yeah and possibly the stupid boosters since they can't do it anymore in Black Ops now that the recording system exists and can be used to get people banned. Black Ops is an obvious win and seems to be correcting most of everything that was wrong with MW2. Also for PC gamers 24 man servers aren't bad, and Treyarch is releasing modding tools some time after release for PC gamers.
