The thing is, there's so many different manga/anime represented in this game, and so many separate companies with rights to different titles in the US, that it'd be nearly impossible to release it here. Why? Simply put, money.
The reason why Japan was able to go through with it was because each title went through the weekly Shonen Jump magazine, hence, Jump Ultimate Stars. So basically, it's import only.
Fortunately for non-fluent Japanese speakers, there's always a modern day paladin willing to shower light upon us, the deprived lot:

i got jump superstars when it first came out, is the second one worth it? Any new characters worth mentioning?

They changed a good deal of stuff. For example, there's two versions of Ichigo Kurosaki; koma 4-6 are his shikai form, and his 7 and 8 koma are his bankai form.

Anyway, does anyone here still play? I'm getting tired of facing gem farmers and general douche bags on random and could go for a nice fight right now. I don't consider myself to be any better than the average JUS player so you'll likely get an easy win xD You can host and feel free to ban anything you like *coughbigthreecough*

I must say that this game is awesome!! Does anyone else have problems with the wifi battles? Mines tends to lag when I play and I don't know if it is my internet connection or what. I thought maybe it was because I live in America, does anyone else have this problem?

Yeah, it tends to happen when you fight people who are in Japan, if you stick to doing FC battles with people from NA & Europe it should be smooth sailing.
