Define asian grinder, because the Shin Megami Tensei MMO might be possible for you. For story, there's also Rusty Hearts and The Old Republic.
I guess my personal definition of asian grinder is maplestory. Where theres no actual purpose to the game besides hitting max level through spending weeks grinding the same monster for no reward just to gain a meager amount of experience. (Yes this is unavoidable in some sense. But you get what I mean.)
Edit: Then once you hit max level, you sell your account and start over.
Shin Megami Tensei? You mean that game I used to play on my Super Famicom as a kid?
Rusty hearts... Never got into that one, I tried it awhile back. Might be worth trying again I guess?
I've never tried Old Republic because i've heard mixed opinions on it and from what i've heard i've just become confused. Might be time to say "fuck it" and give it a whirl.. Question : How does it's subscription model work? Ive heard it called 'hybrid' but I dont understand what that means. Is it anything like runescape where you get 0 access to any cool stuff until you pay.
Ah, you mean excessive grinding and lack of real endgame content. Hopefully what I listed don't fall under that.
And yes, it's based on the same universe, monsters and concepts.
Go for Rusty Hearts now. It's got some new characters.
Hybrid basically means you can play for completely free or opt for a subscription. Microtransactions with real money are available too. Unfortunately, the only thing F2P players of TOR get full access to is the story itself. Everything else is pretty limited unless you pay.
