Looking at the data from our end and reading the feedback it appears that we definitely solved a lot of issues with the last hotfix. We are definitely not quite there yet, but we have eliminated the most troubling crashes and this allowed us to see where we still have a few issues. I wanted to give you a quick update on what we are seeing.
There are about four crashes that account for the vast majority of what is left.
There is a crash that we have identified that is definitely at least exacerbated by running around the city in boosted speed modes. We are streaming a lot of data into and out of memory at these times and if memory gets too fragmented (programmer talk for lots of little memory chunks and not enough big ones) we can run into issues. We are working right now on a solution for that.
We have a physics crash which we are working with Havok (our physics engine author) to solve. We think we have a fix there as well.
There is a sound crash that is pretty random but happens enough to be annoying.
The is one issue that has to do with reading data from the hard disk and we are working with the PS3 folks to see what we can do to lessen that.
We expect to have a hot fix next week to solve a lot of these. I know that any time you crash it is upsetting and as I have said before we will continue stomping these issues until they are all gone. The rest of the team is actively working on update 4 and addressing the feedback on the game so no worries aboout new stuff coming. We have lots of great devs here that are continuing to make this game even better.
The EU hotfix for the PS3 will be happening shortly so look for more info very soon.
Please keep letting us know where there are problems. Your info in these threads have been invaluable. Remember to always include:
Server and Character name.
What you were doing when the issue happened.
Anything notabale that happened before the issue (voice chat failing, sound weirdness, odd lag, etc.)
Have a great weekend.
