Flames ravaged the ruins of the castle that once stood here.
The charred grass spread far beyond the boundaries of the property.
There stood only one pony, if you could even call her that anymore.
No, there appeared another pony.
Its dark outline could be seen amongst the remains.
“Who is there?!”
“It is you who called me here.”
“I did no such thing!”
“Is that so?”
“Yes! I would never call on anyone but myself!”
“And that is exactly what you did.”
“I don't understand.”
The pony walked toward the flaming beast.
Her face peeked through the fires.
Shocked, the monster backed away in disbelief.
“This isn't possible. How can this-”
“The sight of seeing the ponies you love the most suffering in front of your eyes resonated with the elements of harmony residing deeps within your souls.”
The flames began to back away slowly as though it had a mind of its own.
The phantom continued to speak,
“I resided inside of you all along. I was powerless at first, but this resonance that was created was strong enough to give me a physical form. And now it is my job to punish you for all of your wrongdoings.”
“I was just doing what I believed was right! Is that such a crime?!”
“At the expense of the lives of all the ponies you loved. Do you truly believe that you can justify this?”
“It's not like they loved me anyway!”
Screaming desperately, Twilight confronted her greatest enemy.
“You know that you are lying to yourself. You are so wrapped up in your own twisted logic that it may be impossible for you to return to normal.”
“I just wanted to prove to everyone that I am the best-”
“Like Trixie?”
“I AM NOTHING LIKE THAT PATHETIC PONY!”
Twilight's voice boomed so loudly that it created a giant gust of wind.
“It's okay. I am here to take responsibility for what we have done.”
The phantom approached the flamed beast.
“Stay away!”
Fire was swung from her mane in sheer desperation.
Moving back and forward faster than could be perceived, the phantom continued its advance.
“Get away from me!”
A large stream of fire was fired directly at the dark figure, just to have it deflected as though she was protected by an invisible wall.
Reaching her head out, the phantom looks Twilight directly in the eye.
The fiends senses began to recede from her body; her mind began to crumble; her thoughts became still.
Re;alignment
I am the ego,
I feed you advice,
I fuel the fire inside your soul,
I give strength to your ambitions.
You are the shadow,
You bury yourself in the mind,
You guide the mind through actions,
You base your instincts on survivalism.
A delicate balance is required for the mind to take its form.
The ego, which bases its thoughts on a persons strength,
And the shadow, which bases its thoughts on a persons weaknesses.
Both are required in order for a being to exist properly.
For without weakness, there is no strength,
And without strength, there is no weakness.
A continuum that exists within the mind,
Yet continues to be a part of what defines us.
Let us become a team again,
A pair working in unison.
We construct the foundation for the basic structure of the mind,
For it is necessary to know thyself before you can know anyone else.
The Final Thought.
“No, I won't give in-”
Her mind swirled with confusion.
“I cannot stop now-”
The overwhelming emotion was too much.
“I-I'm crying- Why am I crying?”
Tears ran down her face.
“I don't understand...”
A sense of melancholy took a hold of the pony.
“I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!”
A white beacon became the signal. The world was to be born anew.
The light enveloped the entire sky, destroying the darkness that had taken its place in the sky.
The morning light laid its rays upon this desolate land.
Twilight looked onto the sunrise.
“So... beautiful...”
