[Late Edit 8/7/14: Agasdfasf, this is such a mess now that I look at it, Neo and I are both to be blamed, I took on something I obviously couldn't at that time, and Neo dumped a whole gigantic book on me to deal with. This would've never went well.]
Welcome to my next Role-Play (RP), the Fate/FAKKU RP. Please note that this RP is not your usual RP where anyone can simply join by posting a character sheet. Please note that this is a
closed RP, for which only specific users are allowed to join as players. I’ve made the decision to send Personal Messages (PM) to those who are chosen for this RP. Please
do not post a character sheet out of the blue without at least speaking to me, either privately or through the
discussion thread on this RP.
Rules:
1.) Write your posts as properly as you can and don't forget to use proper grammar, typos will be excused. Even if you're bad at English, give it your best, and don't use that excuse to write half-assed RP posts; you must at least try to play like a Literate RP'er. Because bad RP'ers can really become problems for this specific RP. Also,
please note that there's going to be a five (5) day deadline for everyone (except for me, wahaha!)
for posting, players who doesn't have anything to do temporarily on the RP after posting will be excused from this deadline temporarily.
2.) Please use
OOC to speak, comment or ask about something. While you're at it, try to keep your posts
clean, don't quote other users while playing, if you post pictures to maybe show what move your Original Character (OOC) makes, or show a picture of a weapon, person, or anything,
spoiler it. You can also use the
discussion thread of this RP instead of OOCs altogether. Or maybe the Skype chat, anyone following this RP (including both players and non-players) can join this chat, they just need to ask and give their Skype to me in case I don't have them on my contacts list (it's up by now).
3.) Make sure you're controlling your character (or whoever's character, including NPCs) properly. Be
in-character[/i] on the RP. We don't need Players who can't play whatever characters they control properly, sorry. And try not to be inconsistent.
4.) Play fair, especially on combats, if you're gonna lose, then lose, or run, don't just do instant dodging or blocking, its annoying, and say your character is alright all the time, its annoying, and its called munching, though, we have dice rolling and all that to prevent most of such bunders. We don't need godmodders. And don't be slow on posting when the pace is fast. In fact, try to keep up with pace.
5.) I think it goes without saying that the normal rules of the Nasuverse and of the world of Fate should be maintained unless it's bent (or said otherwise) by the Game Master (GM).
[b]Note: NeoStriker is a
Co-GM for this RP. He's going to be the guy doing most of the dice rolling and all other things with the stats and results of doing actions and stuff, or well, both of us, perhaps. He'll most likely play a plot-related character somewhere at one point of time on the RP. But I'm certain that Day, Afternoon, and Night phases (look below for informations about each phases) will be conducted sometimes (or mostly) by him (or maybe I will when I'm not lazy, but he'll always do these things for my character to avoid problems).
Plot:
The shining light shone throughout the large and spacious room, the Holy Maiden appeared before the old man. Shocked, he asked in pure state of surprise, "A-A Servant?!".
"As I am the chosen administrator of the war, the grail has no use of you, begone."
"T-That is impossible! I am the judge of the upcoming Holy Grail war, not you!" they exchanged words for some time, the man screamed, the woman spoke subtly, and was taciturn. The old man soon fell to the ground; unconscious. Never to be the judge of a Holy Grail war again.
"If you don't follow the rules, or refuse to accept it; I have no choice but to use force. Now, all Masters wishing to enter the war, shall come to me. The war shall soon begin, the seven Masters shall summon seven Servants, and have bloody battles leading them to death, except for one Master and one Servant, who'll manage to survive till the end and shall be the winners of the War!"
The next minute, something popped up on FAKKU! It was a newly-made topic, all it said was "The War is starting," the author of the topic and the post was the Administrator and creator of the website himself, Jacob. He is also the Mayor of FAKKU City.
Slots and players:
Only six (6) users, not seven (7) because one of them is yours truly (lol). Players gets invited to this RP at first via PMs, these six players will play a Master character, which is their main character. And they'll also play a Servant character, which can be considered to a character they use for the sake of their Master (depends on how they use the Servant character really). Players get their Servant Character after we roll a dice on their behalf and send the Servant's profile via PM before anything.
It must be noted that the Servant profiles will be created by the GM and the Co-GM; the players are not allowed to create their own Servant Characters.
Two (2) or three (3) players will later be invited for plot purposes (and well, adding more spice to the RP?), and they will also have Servants Characters with them (or maybe not, depends) and will probably play Servants of un-appeared classes. Those who wishes to enter as the extra players later in the game
please read all the posts of the RP even when you're officially not a part of it, the excuse "Too long; didn't read" will cause me to deliberately not allow the applying Player into the RP.
Here's a list of the six (6) Players who have received my messages, in case anyone is curious currently. It is in alphabetical order. The list of users playing as the first seven (7) Masters on the RP is as follows:
About the RP:
- This RP follows a system that basically is made from the Fate system, which contains World of Darkness (WoD) and the Unisystem. It has Primary Statistics, Derived Statistics, dice rollings, Skills, Qualities, Success Levels, and all of those things. You can get the Players' Guide
here. Though the RP may not follow it word to word. You can say that we're borrowing most of the system from that book, though.
- The time is set on 2015, so the last War had taken place on 1955. The third Holy Grail War shall take place on this RP.
- Your character can be of any age, but if they are human; they'll usually fall under these two following categories: Meddling Kids, Meddling Adults (Age: 18+). If he or she is a half-demon, werewolf, vampire, and all of those Supernatural beings, then your character will fall under the Supernatural category. For more information about Meddling Kids, Meddling Adults and Supernaturals, look at the second post of this page.
- A dice is rolled for each players before anything even before the actual summoning. The decision about which Servant Character every players gets will be shown via PM to each of the Players. They will receive only the Servant's name, Age, Sex, Appearance, Background, Role-playing Notes and Wish. This is done so that the Players can create an appropriate Master character for the Servant Character.
- A Player starts first with posting his Master character (which is his main character) on the thread, he
must not include anything other than: Name, Age, Sex, Nature, Demeanor, and Background, and Weapon (if any). All else should be kept secret from public, or else players will be able to predict, calculate outcomes and may avoid taking some decisions altogether and decrease the fun of the RP due to lessening the element of surprise. Curiosity can provide lots of fun!
- The same could be said for Servant characters, try to keep their informations a secret. And Players are not required to post any character sheet for their Servant characters. Full information of the Servant Character won't be sent via PM until the Player's Master character summons the Servant on the RP. Remember that when summoning the Servant, a dice will be rolled for the summoning's success rate, regardless of how great or how perfect the Magus/Magi are known to be, the summoning may not be perfect depending on the success level.
- Stats and full informations about the Servant character won't be shown before the summoning because, success rates will alter the stats. Hence why the players have to summon their Servants first before we can even put their Primary Statistics and all that down, which wouldn't take much time to do once the actual summoning is done on the RP.
- There will be a
Day Phase: A day phase is usually the time when a Player's character will go to school, or work, etc. It is when they do their usual and social activities, a good time to role-play for luck, sometimes.
- What comes next after the Day phase is the
Afternoon phase: Usually a time of preparation for battle, or just lazing around or doing whatever activities.
- Last comes the
Night phase: Where battles will usually take place, as Master or Servant Characters may go out at night for hunting their preys.
-
The GM or Co-GM will announce when a phase starts and ends.
- A Player is completely free as to what they'll have their characters do on each phases.
- There will be side-quests, which will be offered to Players most likely by the Co-GM, it is possible to be rewarded for completing side-quests.
- It is possible for Master characters to summon a new Servant Character after losing their current Servant character. They'll instantly gain the profile of the Servant Character via PM after the successful summoning and when the success levels and statistics are applied.
- There are 18 Servants on the rooster. One of them are randomly given Players when required.
- The classes of Servants that are available are as follows: Saber, Archer, Lancer, Berserker, Rider, Caster, Assassin, Saver, Avenger, Ruler, and temptress. There are two Servants per class on the first seven classes, and one Servants for the others.
I hope this is a good example of an opening post of an RP. I've been seeing some RPs recently without much effort put. I'm not saying this to spite at them, just saying that one should put real efforts when doing such things. And no, no aspiring GMs should really use this post as a template of some kind. Just an example.
Special thanks to: NeoStriker, Saibot, and Sorrow Bloodmist for all the help on the development of this RP, though it still has many ways to go.
