The day was calm, the air was thick with humidity, and there was a subtle tapping noise to be heard. A young man had his legs hanging out from the belly of a car, fixing up his pride and joy.
He tapped away, knocking things in place, tightening nuts and bolts.
He placed his ratchet on the ground, slid out from under the car. Retiring from a solid day of fun, he got up and walked towards the fridge, opening it up, and grabbing a Blue powerade. He took in the sight of his beautiful car, running his hand along the curves, inspecting the paint, and admiring his handy work. He pulled out his measuring tape and measured how far it sat off the ground. 9cm's. Perfect.
He didn't notice, but in his daze, a beautiful young lady tip toed in through the open garage door. He turned around, only to be startled by the lady, who had not made a single sound. The young lady stopped, looked around nervously and enquired
"Are you by any chance, Ben?" her cheeks turning a deep shade of crimson.
"Why yes, that'd be me. What can I do for you?" he asked, not skipping a beat.
"I was told by a friend... that you might be able to help me out..." The young lady said, nervously
"Who is this 'friend' you speak of, and why come to me?" he grew worried, this wouldn't be the first time somebody had entered in such a fashion. Last person to do so, was a spy for his rival, a mean racer from the south. A Mr. Martin Foreshank.
The girl looked around as if she were being watched.
“I… It…” she mumbled, still looking around.
“Well? I can’t help you if you don’t tell me the problem.” Ben said, growing impatient
“J-Jennifer… She… She said to come to you…” his eyes widened… Jennifer…
-Two years prior-
Jennifer was your typical popular blonde, beautiful, nicely dressed, surrounded by her clique. Every time he saw her, Ben became speechless. Her light blue eyes, they reflected the skies infinite beauty. He was in love, or so he thought.
One night, whilst walking back to his dorm, Ben heard a scream, followed by a loud bang. He sneaked up to a corner, and peeped around it. Infront of him lay his dream girl. On the ground. He watched as a man crouched down, whispered in her ear, and started undressing her. It took him a few seconds to notice the giant black bruise on her face. Had he hit her? He watched as the man pulled up her top, and attempted to have his way with her. Anger filled Ben’s mind. He wanted to barge in there and stop him, but he couldn’t… Could he?
Before he realized what he was doing, he had come around the corner and was advancing on the man. He had a wrench in his hand, from his earlier automotive studies. The man turned around, it was Jennifers boyfriend… Mark… What? Why would he do such a thing? Doesn’t he love her? Many questions filled his mind, he wanted to save her, he wanted to end his life for hitting her. The rage built up.
“What do you think you’re doing, punk?” Mark said, standing up. “You come here to steal my prize? I worked my ass off trying to get to that bitches pussy.. and the damn slut wouldn’t let me near it.” Ben was horrified… he hated violence, but he hated this guy more… He lifted the wrench above his head.
“Oh look, monkey’s got a wrench. What’re you going to do? Hit me on the head? Pah. You’re just a big pussy” Mark stepped forwards, trying to intimidate him.
“You… you hit her…” Ben stuttered
“Yeah, so? She’s a damn slut anyway. She Deserved it”
“You… You’re going to pay for what you’ve done. I love her.” Mark laughed in a manic fashion. The idea of somebody else loving his girl was just.. well, it was inconcieveable. Everyone knew Mark would kill anyone who tried it.
“Come on then fuckstain, try me.” Ben trembled, lowering the wrench, he looked down. Mark stepped forwards, Ben swung.
Jennifer slowly opened her eyes. She had a massive headache, as if she’d just been hit by a truck. She looked around, trying to figure out where she was. She turned and saw Ben swing his wrench. He hit Mark in the side of the head. Mark fell to the floor in a heap, blood pooling under him. Such a sight, it was beyond belief.
Ben was frozen with fear. Millions of thoughts rushed through his mind, prison, life on the run, life without his little civ, a life where he was a feared man. He looked over to where Jennifer lay, the sight before her, scaring her, causing her to faint.
He Picked her up, walked back to his dorm, and lay her on his bed. Her bruise had defined. A once small black bruise, was now a large purple monster. Ben pulled the sheets over her, and went and sat on the couch. He thought over what had happened, He grew tired. So much had happened, so much to think about.
Ben sat up on the couch in a rush, he'd forgotten about Jennifer. He looked around the room, trying to look for a sign of the girl of his dreams. Nothing.
On the bed was a newspaper with a piece of lined paper sitting on top of it. A note? Ben sat down to read the note;
Dear Ben,
I'm sorry... It's just... What you did, Thankyou... But... I don't think I could... I'm sorry.
Jennifer.
Ben hunched over, as if about to cry. Why? He had saved her life. As he put his hand down to support him, it hit the paper, folded perfectly in half on the bed. A heading was circled in blue pen. Mark had been found, dead. He dropped the paper and held his hands to his face. No... No...

That name... Jennifer... He cringed, he didn't want to remember that.
"Well, I don't help people anymore. Find yourself another man" Ben said with a cold tone. He put the tape measure down on the bench and grabbed his keys. Advancing towards his car, the girl screamed.
"SO YOU'RE JUST GOING TO WALK OUT ON ME, JUST AS YOU DID TO JEN? YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A COMMON DOUCHE."
Ben's hand was resting on the car's door handle. A wave of anger flashed over his face, he tried to suppress it.
"I didn't walk out on her, She left me, all alone. I was left to deal with everything by myself, you have no right to come in here and acuse me of walking out on ANYBODY" He opened the car door, got in and pulled it hard behind him. He put the key in the ignition and turned the car over, It's engine purring beautifully. He pushed the throttle in, revving the engine, ready for his exit.
The passanger side door opened, and the girl leaned in.
"I'm... I'm sorry, I didn't know... At least let me come with you?" Ben sighed, thinking nothing but thoughts of hatred. At least she oppologised.
"Fine, get in." She jumped in, and no sooner had she done up the seatbelt, had the car launched out of the garage. Ben reached down and pressed a button under his handbrake, shutting the garage door.
"Thankyou..."

There was an awkward silence in the car, neither party wanted to say anything. Ben sighed.
"Now what is it you need help with?" His eyes not breaking contact with the road ahead. The girl bit her lip and thought about what to say next.
"I... There's this guy,
To be continued... >< might end up making chapters, but i dunno..
