Superpower information: Draws energy and abilities from "emotional states". Negative states are directly battle-oriented, while positive states are mostly support and damage-mitigation.
Negative attributes: Hate focuses and projects energy into beam-like attacks for effective single-target damage, but sacrifices a good portion of area-awareness, so less effective against large groups of enemies. Anger forgoes the beams for dense "energy spheres" for massive area destruction, but is less effective against quick enemies and takes a moment to charge. Fear heightens reflexes, basic senses, and speed to inhuman levels, but almost all offensive power is shelved in the process.
Negative Combinations: Hateful Anger, Fearful Hate, and Fearful Anger.
Positive attributes: Hope accelerates natural regeneration to self and all nearby friendlies, but reflexes and natural speed are diminished while active. Charisma empowers allies and allows them to fight more effectively, but like hope, nearly all combat abilities are disabled while active. Patience can generate powerful defensive barriers to protect self and allies, but cannot be maintained indefinitely.
Positive Combinations: Hopeful Charisma, Patient Charisma, and Hopeful Patience.
All powers within their respective families share a global drawback:
Too much time spent in negative states strains the body physically and psychologically, and drawing too much energy from any negative state at once can inflict damage upon the user. Dependency can also result from the feeling of power and influence from raw combat abilities, making it increasingly difficult to shift out into positive states if maintained too long.
Spending too time in positive states weakens the resolve to fight directly, and can instill harmful pacifism if used too much, or if too much energy is drawn at once. The feeling of a positive state can also create a dependency similar to negative states; the energies instill good feelings, and the longer the state remains active, the more difficult it can become to shift back out into a negative state.
Combination powers evenly split the benefits of the powers being merged in half. This allows partial use of both ability sets at once, but this nearly doubles the strain inflicted on the user, and cuts the amount of time that can be spent in either positive or negative states in half.
Shifting between negative and positive states cancels out the drawbacks either side entails when used too long or excessively; maintaining the balance of emotional energy in the user is crucial to preserving physical and psychological stability. Too much energy in either side too long can destabilize the user permanently; leaving him/her either a darkness-fuelled being that can only destroy, or creating a docile pacifist that has no capacity for any form of violence.
There is a "final form" of these powers, one for positive, and one for negative. Both of these forms are normally inaccessible by normal means of emotion training, and for good reason.
Emotion Ascension: By completely erasing either positive capacity, or negative capacity, the user can attain the "emotion ascendant" form. But each ascension is a massive contrast to one another; in function and capability. If the user chooses to ascend as a negative-based ascendant, the end result is essentially a world-breaking Cataclysm; tearing through the world and wiping out entire nations in mere hours. In stark contrast, if the user chooses to become a positive-based ascendant, the result is the complete polar opposite; mass-enlightenment, allowing the unifying of all human hearts with one another, and the complete end to all conflicts, wars, and suffering.
The final drawback of ascension, is that by doing so, the user completely relinquishes their humanity, and can never become mortal again. All of the pleasures of human life are lost forever, and they are permanently relegated to their final position in existence.
