Prologue
We were each given a vision, a vision of love, happiness, prosperity, peace, a perfect relationship without conflict or hatred. But the vision flourished; revealing images of death, destruction, a destitute and deplorable sight given to us by our Gods...but why? Why were we given these visions to create vast civilizations, craft technology and prosper in literature and such, only to personally deconstruct all that we have done all because of a simple disagreement made by two beings of days passed.
Why do we have Souls? Why do they possess such power to guide us all in such a deterred direction? For what purpose do we serve as humans on this world? It is questions like this that swivel through the heads of the citizens, leaving them clueless as to what truly occurred on that day the Children of Dust were born.
Having the fate of my people rest on my shoulders-- I have to say, it's as overwhelming as they say it is; having the blood of many, spill on my ashen hands. I don't want to go to war, but sometimes I lie awake at night, wondering if I should follow through, skip all squabbles of political nonsense and send my army, my people, my children to fight a pointless war. I continue to wonder to this very day, if this is a wise decision. Because if I don't, I feel as though our very way of life could be in jeopardy. And nay; I speak not of any political jargon-- the world, and all that our Gods have done to bestow this gift to us, would be all for naught.
Agatha, mother, and the stars above-- guide me.
-Excerpt from Queen Hanalea Folger, an address to her people.
Story
Long ago in a time when the world was but a remnant of dust and sheer nothingness, there were no people, no inhabitants, not even animals to breed and integrate themselves into nature-- only Souls. There were two beings who oversaw and corralled all of these Souls every justly-- they went by the names of Kyne, and Agatha. These two always bickered, hosting debates of how the Souls should have been utilized. Agatha suggested that the Souls were to be used to give life, to start civilizations, create societies of a vast variety of species and races, and a just system of order and tranquility. Kyne did not agree with this, however. He would think that bestowing the Souls-- the very things capable of granting life, and of course, in his case-- power.
Kyne thought, as gods, that creating life would make them too generous, therefore tarnishing their names. He also thought of the possibility that the many civilizations would eventually see their creators as inferior, thus rebelling against them. He and Agatha would bicker to no end on this topic for many cycles, with no hope of ever ceasing until Kyne waged a brutal war on his companion. The war went on for what would estimate up to over a billion years, causing the many deaths of the beings the two made their Souls out of. With each death, a Soul did not fade away, rather, it became something new. Stars formed from the very corpses of the Interstellar Soldiers, as well as planets, realms, and time itself. For what seemed like the end of an era, a new one began to sprout. As time passed, the two gods began to fade away, and new inhabitants began to form. From new lands, trees, and animals, to new cultures, societies, people-- life.
Shortly after humans and other races alive were born from the dust, they were aware they could perform the same actions their benevolent Gods were able. From weaving great storms with their fingertips, creating miasmas of famine and creating life itself, the Children of Dust soon remembered that they themselves were Souls meant to create, to live-- to destroy. Yes, utilizing the free will Kyne and Agatha bestowed upon them, these Children of Dust split apart into two factions; Agatha’s Grace, who idolize and worship Agatha as their savior for bestowing such a gift to them, and The Remnants of Kyne, who remember the kindness Kyne had done for them and devote their lives to spread his very name throughout the lands, violent or not.
No living human knew what happened to the two gods, but they knew exactly what to make of these Souls. Every human lives with a Soul and dies with one, thus allowing the cycle of volition and free will to begin.
Peeps, humans, perverts, fujoshis, fanboys, and shippers-- welcome to my newest Role-play (RP, for short), Souls of Kyne: The Crown of Fabricated Dreams. Yes, you are probably thinking, “Huh, isn’t Ezlare that guy who made Throne of the Guilty but never finished it? What if he won’t finish this?” well I’ll tell you unsuspecting reader with the strange taste in clicking threads you will likely click out of before even reaching this sentence! The answer is quite simple: yeah, actually. Throne RP was my first RP and I was a complete noob in GM’ing-- I made many mistakes, didn’t keep up with the story too well and got to the point where I scrapped it altogether. This time around, I shall make sure I will not make that mistake again.
To rectify one of my mistakes this RP, unfortunately, is a closed RP, meaning I’m being much more selective with who is joining and keeping the player cap limited to four players. If you are looking for an RP to join on the other hand, kindly take a look over to Descendants of Time, I’m sure Rise is still welcoming new players. Now, as this RP is set in the High Fantasy medieval genre, the story is intended to be dark and gritty, meaning it will have it’s share of gory and or lewd moments if it goes that route; which it will.
This time around, I will be using Google Docs to do everything RP related, from updating character stats, to the story’s general locations and junk (Since Fakku is really touchy with those maintenance pages). We will also be writing the scenes of the RP through the usage of Google Docs, as well as posting them off into the thread.
Rules:
- No OOC (Out of character posts) Keep all posts in character at all times.
You don’t have to “write well” to be applicable, but try to speak correct English and write in third person.
- Be sure to make some time in your day to write whenever possible. I’m aware we all
have lives, but it’s annoying when someone isn't being too committed.
- Do NOT, spam in the thread. All posting in this thread will be related to the overall story of the RP and will be in character.
Setting
This time around, the RP is set in a dark high fantasy, advanced medieval war era.The locations the entirety of the RP is set in a land named Shryf, a vast land riddled with royal kingdoms, and some steampunk technology from blimps and other vehicles, as well as certain firearms. The land has it’s own set cultures similar, if not identical to cultures we have in real life; Japanese, American, and Russian as examples. This is so I could allow the players some freedom with their characters, (because I'm too lazy to dictate what ethnicity they are) plus it's easier on me in some way.
System
Once again, I am going with a basic system for this RP which goes as follows: 31 attribute points to be distributed to other stats for the characters. Strength is to determine how strong you are in certain situations and how much damage you dish out in battle, Endurance is how much HP you have in battle, Intelligence is to determine how bright you are and how well you are able to come up with ideas to help you out of a certain situation, as well as your accuracy when using powers, Social is for how well you interact and communicate with other characters, Dexterity is for how fast and how accurate you are with attacks, and Soul simply is to determine how strong your powers are and how well you are to use them in battle or in casual situations.
Players are each given a Soul, all in which are unique and allow them to utilize a certain power of their own choosing. These powers could be elemental, purely strength related, or psychic. If a player’s Soul is high to a certain point, it could be strong enough to simply be another life within the player’s body that they could speak to and give qualities. If you want your Soul to have a separate life of its own, ask me and I will go over with you what your profile could need to have it.
Terminology
The terminology section may seem a bit small due to my lackadaisical sense in adding things and remembering my own plot, or likely due to my fear of revealing too much; but that’s an extremely low chance.
Souls: The very embodiment of all existence. The two gods, Kyne and Agatha harnessed these Souls’ power, balancing the universe ever justly until they had a disagreement with one another, therefore spreading them across the realms, creating all life as we know it. Humans, animals, and evidently beasts have souls, and utilize them in their daily lives. Some use them for their own personal gain, or to fight in militaries.
The Gods of the Beginning: Agatha and Kyne, two gods who controlled the order of the universe who eventually had a falling out, causing the very creation and existence of human beings and the world they live on.
Children of Dust: The very first humans. These people, like many things, were the first living beings to utilize the power of Souls to their own advantage. As they were born, they each received a vision of the two gods
Locations
The explanation I previously provided for terminology goes for locations as well. What can I say? I’m a lazy twat. Though more locations, along with pictures will be added as the RP progresses.
Shryf: A large landmass created from Souls. There are many landscapes and sights to see within the land, from vast mountaintops, to seering volcanic surfaces. There are also a number of feral beasts wandering the lands as well, all who hunger for the Souls of the humans around them.
Lauterion: a rather large kingdom set in the vast desert dunes of Shryf. Seemingly the kingdom is ragged and riddled with famine on the outside, when the inside is described as an oasis. This is the home to the Remnant Army and it’s people. This and Forlon are the areas players will spend during their downtime majority of the RP.
Forlon: A large medieval city with a somewhat further than advanced steampunk style city built after after the manifestation of Souls into technology. This light filled and lively city is under the protection of the queen and her army. There is a lot of talk of diplomacy and war going on within the castles, where Queen Hanalea would sit in of course.
