“It’s pretty exciting isn’t it?” Sid leaned closer to me with excitement in his eyes.
“Eh?..-“ I started stuttering slightly. “What’s exciting?”
“The murder, what else?”
“Ahh..I haven’t really taken much notice to it to be honest..”
“Don’t give me that.. I know you like to think you have control but.. there’s no way that amount of blood didn’t tickle your hunger.”
“Well un-like you I don’t eat everything I see in sight.”
“Will you ever leave my eating habits alone? There much more natural compared to yours!”
“As if I can help it, it’s a natural instinct for me, I’m never heard of there being a natural instinct for humans to devour as much food as possible.”
“I just have a big appetite that’s all.”
“More importantly how do you not gain any weight? You don’t even exercise!”
This person I’m arguing, my one and only friend.
Sid Eyolf.
His odd surname suits his personality and looks. He has an almost non-human appetite, to the point where I wonder who’s the real monster between us and for some reason he has an odd phobia of white circles, you’d probably think he made that up for the sake of being funny, but I use this phobia of his to win many arguments’. He claims it’s a fear originating from his childhood, but won’t go into details due to embarrassment, which would make anyone all the more curious.
He’s also probably the most scruffiest person in the school, his hair is always un-tidy but he makes sure to keep it to a reasonable length, although he’s constantly wearing a black beanie hat, so you rarely ever see all of his hair. Even the clothes he wears end up scruffy. He claims it’s to stand out from the crowd, I claim it to be due to him being lazy.
He also has an odd high amount of luck, if you believe in such things. But if you spend enough time around him you begin to see many things work in his favour, something he seems to be un-aware of.
He’s the only person who knows of my secret, the fact that I am a vampire. But it was more or less something he figured out himself, his family is very occult like and have taught him about the many odd creatures out there, any normal person would dismiss it, he wishes to dismiss such things, but he’s the kind of person who won’t deny what he’s seen.
Really I owe him a huge debt, he’s helped me maintain this human-like lifestyle, and he’s shown no fear despite what I’ve become, so despite his many in-consistent flaws, he is the most precious thing I have.
Although do not mix that with love or a crush, Sid can be a sweet guy, but when you become a vampire you lose your human lust, you lose the ability to love they say, but to be honest I’ve never been interested in being with a guy even back when I was human, appears to be too much hassle and I don’t want to become one of those girl who think they’re in love after only one week.
Right now we were having our lunch break, but due to the police roaming all over the place, the school is considering to close early, really it should’ve been closed straight away but our head teacher is ridiculously strict.
“So what do you think killed her?” Sid was smiling quite sickly when asking this, he doesn’t seem to care much for others.
“Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that, I thought you were the one who knew everything when it came to these strange happenings.”
“Vampires are easy to spot, just look for the bite mark mainly. But a corpse with no wounds, and their own blood everywhere? That is not so easily pieced together.”
“The fact your asking for my own thoughts on the matter tells me you have a rough idea though.”
“Heh only a few, but they don’t all fit that well together, but we both know it wasn’t a human that killed her, I think this time only you will be able to see the culprit.”
“..Meaning?”
“Meaning we have a spirit to deal with, one human eyes cannot see.”
“You know you’ve never told me why you hunt down these things, helping people.. you’re not the kind of person to do this as an act of kindness, nor to do it for any reward..”
“Well why I helped you and why I help others had two different reasons, let’s just say I feel like I owe a debt to these people.”
Sid has a habit of talking in riddles, it’s a pain in the arse! I’m not the type who enjoys puzzles or riddles.
“Hmmm seems like everyone is leaving the school, I guess it’s been closed then.”
Thankfully he was right, everyone was leaving with the same plastered look of relief on their faces, relieved to have a short day at school, or to get away from the event that took place at school? Humans are dull, but they interest me at times.
“Well I’ll be leaving as well then, you joining me?”
“No, sorry but I want to hang around for a bit..”
“Hmm... if you’re going to drink the blood try not to leave any trace of yourself.”
“I wasn’t planning on doing that!”
He laughed teasingly at me then ran off to join the crowd of people.
Ideally I should’ve joined, maybe not actually, if I didn’t stay behind at school on this day, Then I’d have a lot of meals for myself that even I could not resist.
