Send you off yet again, stuff always seems to be happen
get in your car and drive away. see you off with a smile
denial
everytime we run into one another, we're both too busy, but we're still brothers
that's okay, I'll see you again
Call me and then we'll set something up
watch it burn away like yesterday
each time we have to leave
its' okay
I'll see you again
you've got work
I've got an appointment
we laugh at the insanity, the business of our lives
your cancer is there
hiding and grinning
your health is obtuse
and I changed my number-oops!
that's okay, we'll see each other another day
no we won't
that's not always how it works
you didn't know my number I didn't know yours
stopped seeing you in all those stores
used to see you all the time
now I don't ...
and I wont again, the call I got let me know this
should I have changed my appointment?
should you have called off work?
time spent elsewhere cannot be unspent
we coulda had a place, we coulda split the rent
we coulda shared stories of the times we lost
coulda shared more laughter and been there for each other
I pride myself on being so wise
yet another lesson of life was in disguise
you were that lesson, if I was so wise
I would have known that before your demise
...I'm sorry now for what never was
the things we talked about are now bridges now burned
ties are now severed
I didn't take time, just a few seconds
to tell you how great you were
...and none of this will change, all things in this stage remain the same...
