[Writing Contest Entry 3.30.14] Summit

A poem from a guy who doesn't know jack about poems. Imagine that. Oh wait, you don't have to!

Yes, I'm aware that the contest rules clearly say "essay" like three times, but in my defense, it's still nonfictional, and it's still about a moment in my life. So that's two out of three. Also, Leonard's absent so SOMEBODY has to submit an entry that doesn't follow the rules.

That was deep, man. Like, really deep. Like, I can't even see you down there anymore.

Seriously, though, I love it.

Glad you like it, but deep is not a word I'd use to describe it.

By the way, you ever get a chance to read my entry for the valentine contest?

Well, you know what they say: Readers often find more in the piece than the author intended. I find this to speak about life, friendship, the cyclical pattern of days spent in enjoyment. Those things remind me of my own experiences. That in and of itself is deep to me, at least.

And, no, I didn't. Honestly I totally forgot about it. I will put it on the top of my reading pile.

The last sentence was pretty much a last thought before posting it. I had actually meant it as a little joke.

Well, it was the last sentence and the one or two before that which gave me those impressions.

Your account is probably the largest reason I would read it. I mean no offense by that, but I usually don't read for leisure. I am interested, but I get swept away by other things. It's the knowledge that other people depend on my opinion or view that brings me back to it. I promise I'll get to it.

And, no, I don't at all, but he took high, leonard, and the writing lounge with him. Almost you, as well.

Classes and Words of Radiance (awesome book!) are the culprits. Unfortunately, the near future isn't looking too good. One class in particular is going to keep me extremely busy for the next month. You may or may not have seen my post a while ago in the chat forum about a literary magazine. The deadline was yesterday. As of today, I've got entries to read by the metric shit ton.

A shame I won't be getting in my first entry for a writing contest here. Busy as fuck

pretty cool; seems like it didn't take long to make, but hey, i like what you did there, whether you meant to or not; you can either read the last line as a joke, which i did, or the way xenon did; i find that you have to set it up in a certain way for it to come out as the way xenon read it, but I still like it none-the-less; i see your adventure as hiking with friends, and having a good time.

Fair enough. I've been getting that feeling a lot lately.



Well, if you submit a poem to an essay contest like I did . . . there might be time for that. Or not.
