The theme's creative nonfiction and the art of the personal essay; basically what creative nonfiction is, is a true story well told. Writers understand that truth is subjective, and in creative nonfiction, you're basically telling your truth. A personal essay is an essay, where you use your experiences to illustrate a message; the idea of personal comes in because the intended audience is, yourself. you're writing a personal narrative to yourself about what you want to tell to yourself. If that sounds too abstract, it basically means that it's basically a journal or a diary, but not really, because at the end of the day, it still needs to be directed towards an outside audience--it has to be interesting in order for people to want to read it, and tell others.
the topic of this contest will be: a moment in time.
the prize? this might sound silly to some people, but I guess you're just doing it because u can, and to make it more interesting I'll give total of 8 US dollars to the winners. Money, no matter how small always makes matters a tad more interesting.
I guess I'll judge. If there are ties for first, I'll hand out multiple 5 dollars I guess. Second will receive 2 dollars, and third will take one.
the goal is to write fundamentally sound and have it be interesting; if you break the rules for style, at least know the rules before you break them.
I'll judge mainly the writer's strength in writing;
style will always be style at the end of the day, unless you don't know what you're doing. So if anything I'll be the grammar and style police.
the due date for this will be on 03.30.14 at 3:03:14 PM KST [Korean Standard Time]

3. It has to be creative non fiction.
4. It must be your own work. We will be looking very closely at your words for anything that has been plagiarized.
5. Please avoid having someone else edit/improve/fix errors in your entry. It goes against the spirit of the contest in questioning whether your submission is truly your original work.
