So... the boy has been fairly distant lately and I think something is up. I don't know if he's wanting to split or if he's seeing someone else... but something is up. I knew it was affecting me when I was watching cheaters (yeah, I know...) and they girl was talking about all these signs... and I looked at my twin's wifey and we both knew, something is up.

From the paragraph you have written, it appears to me that you are somewhat pessimistic. Your definition of "fairly distant" could be different from mine, but apart from "wanting to split" or "seeing someone else", your boyfriend may be tired from work, feeling unwell, or maybe even planning a pleasant surprise for yourself, keeping his distance away from you so that he will not reveal his plans unknowingly.

However, like what others have mentioned, communication is the key to making relationships work. Guessing what is on the other party's mind isn't.

In my case I usually distance myself from people if I am feeling angry/tired and know that I would snap at people for no good reason, thus avoiding being nasty to people I care about.

First off from what you said you were watching Cheaters and thought that your boyfriend could be cheating on you. This would be a point against him cheating on you. It is a common and well known psychological effect that you have an unintentional bias towards thing you are told to be true. Another thing you should do is if he has any friends, you should hang out with them more often. That will give you a better indicator if he is up to anything. Especially if his friends are acting weird or hostile.

I agree with the talking to him idea. It's entirely possible that he's not being distant so much as he might be getting relaxed in the situation of your relationship and therefore just not showing as much affection because he may feel that it is no longer necessary for him to be constantly showing affection and whatnot. Also he could just be tired or stressed. Also his friends being hostile might not mean anything if he hasn't had much time to spend with them as your their competitor for his free time.
