Page 20 confirmed a suspicion that grew in me as I progressed through this (no spoilers). Suffice it to say that Kouji has a serious case of misunderstanding that, in another time and place, and with another artist, would have gotten totally ugly. Fortunately, Maki-san recognized what was up, and proceeded to allay his concerns as perhaps only a Sexy Onee-san could do best.

In The End, Everything could by said to be: "Perfectly Balanced As All Things Should Be." And sometimes, that's good enough to get the job done.

idk...I must be missing something. The only sliver of understanding I have why he would deserve such treatment is he was pretty indecisive and obtuse (very obtuse, actually) in the beginning. Also, although not rationally on the level that he would deserve to be NTR'd, he himself kinda did that to her while he thought she was taken after she checked up on him.

Yeah, pretty much. He only sees Maki as dateable if she’s “pure” and “unsullied” by some other guy; like she’s worthless now. It’s pretty common in h-manga but jesus, Kouji didn’t even see her as a person, just something to claim as “his.”
