It definitely looks likes like some time has passed at the end of the story. I noticed the scruff on his chin and how her blouse was much more... filled. Sequel please!

The bathhouse is extremely detailed, inside
and out. It was almost certainly drawn from
photos or sketches of an actual bathhouse.
Note the traditional bandai-style entrance,
where Kurosawa sits on a raised platform.

Which reminds me: Fakku needs a NEW tag:
"SentÅ / Public Bathhouse"
(as well as a new tag for "Onsen / Hot Spring")

Note the stubble on Kurosawa's chin on page 22, panel 2. That tells
us he's an adult now, so several years passed before Ema returned.

I also just realized that she still had the stamp card he gave her at the beginning of the story. *facepalm* So many cleverly woven details in this comic. I love it!

I also just realized the skyline on page 21 changes between panel 3
and panel 4. The old wood-burning bathhouse was apparently torn
down and replaced with a modern sentÅ (which is kind of sad).
This is confirmed on page 22, panel 1, which shows the sentÅ
has a new façade, which is completely different from the old
façade (page 2, panel 3).

The price of a bath went up by 20 yen. Ema's figure had grown more defined, and Kurosawa's shoulders are broader as well. Subtle, but noticeable markers of time's passage.

Japan, which is reflected in the way Kurosawa offends Ema by carelessly
(almost reflexively) referring to her as a "foreigner."

If you like this story, I recommend Higashide Irodori's Budding Strawberry,
an excellent chapter with another hÄfu girl (who is also a feisty, stocky little
tsundere).
