Sure the fantasy aspect of it is fun but once you get use to living in that world you will just get bored of your "new normal" and should it functions like real life e.g charterer dies you lose current character or game over and you die then you are screwed because of them RANDOM CRITS. However if you get endless continue you would take life for granted and lose sense of reality.
THEM DAMN RANDOM CRITICALS
But you assume we *have* to shit in fantasy. That's the best part, I don't know about you but I HATE going "number two", it just grosses me out. If I can go into a world where I don't have to shit, that's already a world I'd rather have as my "new normal".
And by grinding, you mean kicking ass of monsters and such, getting more open access to your fellow human beings(most of which will be your age, into the same stuff.) An IRL MMORPG would just be filled with epic wins of epic proportions.
Grinding, IRL, means a job, or at best overseeing the operations of a job. And if you're lucky, the ideal life is to retire young, go on a bunch of vacations and lulz yourself to death.
Virtual Reality> IRL, it ain't even a contest.
