So, this has been on my mind for a while and I need to let it out before blood oozes out of my very large, geeky ears. Is SSJ4 really a SSJ level? Before you reply, think about this: SS levels have a few traits. First is, of course, the yellow hair and aura. Second, a Saiyans' hair grows longer with each level. Their eyes change to a shade of blue. Here's the thing, SSJ4 is aquired by transforming into the golden Ozuru [ape] and then weilding the energy from within, thereby having control of yourself. There isn't a whole lot we can say about the transformation, because it is never seen [at least in the Anime] until the transformation is complete. When fighting Super Android17, Goku transforms underwater. During his fight with Baby, he is surrounded by dust/smoke. Anyway, it can be argued that you must first wield your ape form and fuse it with your SS energy, resulting in SSJ4. But that's exactly the point; its not pure SS energy. It is SS energy fused with the transformation of the Ozuru form. This could explain a few things. First of all, it explains the lack of yellow hair/energy, and the ape attributes. The hair of a SSJ4 is also shorter and more wild than the SSJ3 form. And, MOST importantly, SSJ4 not being a true/pure SS level could explain why Vageta was able to aquire it, when he was only able to achieve SSJ2. Well, what do you think? I am interested in your opinions.
SSJ4 is only in GT. GT is not canon in the "real" Dragon Ball world because Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, had nothing to do with GT. GT is basically like a fanfiction that got animated. So, don't take anything that happens in GT too seriously.
If you want to think seriously about it, SSJ4 doesn't make any sense. SSJ3 was something that wasn't meant for the living world; that's what Goku himself said. Something more powerful than SSJ3 existing in the living world, and not the world of the dead, is preposterous.
That said, it's just a wacky fighting anime. Things don't have to make too much sense.
