i wonder if angel knows that otonashi isnt the right person that gave her the heart....

Yuri said they had been fighting angel BEFORE otonashi came... which means angel came to the school BEFORE otonashi... doesnt that seem odd.... shouldnt otonashi come before angel? O.O odd.... oh well i bet otonashi wouldnt be too happy if angel disappeared for the wrong person :P

Just another plot hole in a rather rushed ending. There is also no explaination how Kanade ending up in the "world" in the first place. As she said, she just "wandered" in there.

its because the after life exists outside of the real world's perception of time.. either that or because since Otanashi is a glitch in the system, he would appear much later than his time of death.

Nothing points to Otanashi being a glitch in the "system" anymore than anyone else (one dude had hypo powers!?). Even if he was a glitch, he shouldn't of shown up after someone who never even died to being with.

Simplest explanation is a time lag between death and appearance in the afterlife. Our protagonist could have spent an abnormal time in limbo.
Another is independence from the continuity of the living. Why should souls be bound by quantum physics? This is more probably given the ass backwards plot exposition given in ep12, where the creator of the system (most likely using computers) waited around for his lover to return until he went insane. I interpret that as being hundreds of years by normal human reckoning, so it seems that the timeflow of the afterlife is in no way continuous with that of the living.

Or Yuzuru actually found peace and was brought to that world simply because Kanade wanted him there,since he was already dead it would explain the lack of memories despite not suffering any head injuries.

Now the question is how long did Kanade wait for Otonashi to show up? She probably appears detached at the beginning because she lost her emotions from waiting around forever until Otonashi finally showed up.

Interesting guesses, but none of it is stated clearly enough in the actual show or manga. There can be a thousand different possiblities, but an answer that follows canon was not provided.

So much theorizing and every theory has a flaw that invalidates the entire basis or is formed upon something that is not concrete. I fear that if you sat down Jun Maeda and asked him to answer these question he'd be like "Uhhhhhmmmmm... I have no idea..."

Angel Beats had potential but it suffered from plot holes and forced drama. but to answer your question it could be like this:

As time passes and the SSS forms, Otonashi appears in their world and Angel stabs him in his chest. She find no heart and she ASSUMES that he was the organ donor that saved her life. But this doesn't prove that Otonashi is the organ donor.
They probably should of made Angel Beats into a 26 episode anime. Too many plot holes made the story very confusing and complex.

Yeah definitely should've been longer. The ending was a failure for me because I didn't really have any emotional attachment for any of them. The romance between Kanade and Otonashi seemed forced and even though Yui's ending was done well there was no emotional attachment from me. I really would've liked to see more character development done and more depth to the story. You look at their previous works of Kanon and Clannad and they were good because they had enough episodes for the viewer to become emotionally attached. With that said though, Angel Beats definitely did do a good job with the amount of time that was allotted but it could've been so much more.

My gripe with the series lies in the fact that they slashed the subplots for characters like TK (come on!). Too much to cover, so rushed anime (which was still fricken hilarious) is rushed.

What is it that does not prove that Otonashi is the donor? I mean, come on, what do you want them to do, get a DNA sample or summin? If Kanade pokes him in the chest and realizes he is the donor, then he is, no more proof should be needed. This is not a "plot hole", this is just something that you're suppose to accept.
Also, Otonashi is the one that gets there by mistake, which could be the reason for his "time lag" and him getting there after Kanade. The reason Kanade is there is not hard to guess; she is there because she wants to thank Otonashi but could not do it when she was alive, and after she does, she no longer has any regrets and thus disappears.

The best explanations for this are that Otonashi was wandering around for some time before landing in that school, or that Otonashi was specifically placed there so that Kanade was able to pass on as well.

Tip: Kanade is dead early for 10 years than Otonoshi. Otonoshi sleep for 10 yrs and wakes up suddenly. But he felt 1 day ago lol

actually it doesnt mean when a person dies they immediately go there look at angel she was already their before yuzuru but tuzuru was the one who gave his heart to kanade so that she could continue living
actually the kanade and yuzuru in the ending were reincarnations (too bad bad they didn't turn to barnacles)
