Never watched Higurashi before. Only thing I've heard from it, is that it's very bloody.

Is it good and worth watching?

It's pretty bloody but the story is really good, I highly recommend it, it's one of my favourite series. Make sure to watch the second season as well.

I need to catch up with the manga, I own the first 14 volumes and the side story 'Demon Exposing Arc'.

Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kaku (ひぐらしのなく頃に 拡) is the name of the new anime project for Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni. It's been confirmed on the 15th of December, 2012.

It's still in progress, but who else is excited for this release?

Don't movies fall under the Entertainment section?Seeing as it is a Movie adaptation of a visual novel/anime series?

The "Entertainment Section" is usually meant for books/tv shows/movies.

If it was a live action movie of Higurashi that would be acceptable. But anything "Anime Adapted" falls under the "Anime & Manga" category.

I watch the anime after I played the VN.

I ended up disliking it, lol.

the anime has 4 segments per story-4 episodes per story then when you get to ( Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai ) the story kicks in and why things happened in the past eps are explained

I'm not the only one excited it seems, I just watched the PV last night and I've been keeping my eye on Kaku since December. I love Higurashi, it was the first VN I read and the song "You" was the first song I learned on my piano. I'm so happy that the fandom hasn't ended yet. The OVA Kira that came out was cute but it wasn't really all that impressive story wise. I'm glad that not only is there a new adaptation but I'm happy to see that Higurashi is still going.
